Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy, is nominated for her very first BET Awards at just eight-years-old.

On Monday, the nominees of BET Awards were announced. Each celebrating achievements in music, television, film and sports. Among them was Beyonce and Jay-Z’s eight-year-old daughter. She appeared with Beyonce on her famous song, ‘Brown Skin Girl’. The track was from The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack album. The amazing song which also features WizKid and SAINt JHN, is also nominated for the BET Awards.

Blue Ivy opens the track with the lyrics ‘Brown skin girl/ Your skin just like pearls/ The best thing in the world/ Never trade you for anybody else’.

The track is up against Alicia Keys, Ciara, Lupita Nyong’o, Ester Dean, City Girls, LaLa, Layton Greene, Lizzo, Missy Elliot, Rapsody, and PJ Morton.

While this is Blue’s first nomination, her mother, Beyonce, is nominated for three other categories. Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Album Of The Year, and Best Movie.

Brown Skin Girl has already acheived several awards.

The track won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards, followed by the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration Award at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards.

Brown Skin Girl, the ultimate win for Blue

As for Blue, she isn’t the only one who received a first-time BET nomination on Monday. Saweetie, Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch and international artists like Rema and Sha Sha are just a few others celebrating, too.

Last July, Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, spoke with ET about what it was like hearing her granddaughter on an album at such a young age.

“Oh my god. That album is incredible,” she gushed. “I can’t get enough of it and, of course, I’m not biased but that was wonderful and for Blue to be a part of it, it’s amazing.”

Beyonce and Jay-Z have already begun to introduce Blue to her passion for music. She is also a part of Jay-Z’s album, 4:44.

In a bonus track for the album, Blue demonstrates her impressive free styling abilities in the aptly titled track, ‘Blue’s Freestyle/We Family.’

The young girl has also made numerous appearances in her mother’s music videos, including Formation and Spirit.

In 2018, Blue became a big sister by welcoming Rumi and Sir Carter into the world.

This year’s BET Awards will be taking place virtually, and will be televised by CBS for the first time.

The BET Awards will be making its national broadcast premiere as it will also be simulcasting across ViacomCBS networks including BET and BET HER on Sunday, June 28 at 8pm.
