Blackpink’s ‘How You Like That’ Becomes Fastest K-Pop Female MV To Reach 1B Views
It’s been a while since Blackpink made a comeback; but the members are still making headlines on a regular basis for their accomplishments.
Lisa went independent with her record-breaking single album, Lalisa, therefore the girls are occupied with their own interests. Jisoo has taken a risk by securing her first main part in the upcoming romance K-drama, Snowdrop. Rosé made headlines as one of the first female K-pop idols at the Met Gala; while Jennie’s recent campaign with Chanel; for whom she is the brand ambassador; has her on billboards across the United States.
Even the group’s previous songs, such as ‘How You Like That,’ are creating ripples. The girl group’s most recent comeback was in 2020; when their debut studio album, The Album, was released. Fans adored the pre-release ‘How You Like That,’; which topped multiple charts and was awarded platinum.
As of November 12, the music video for How You Like That had surpassed one billion views on YouTube. This makes it the fastest K-pop girl group music video to reach this milestone. Since the music video for Blackpink’s 2018 single ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ broke this record, the group has extended their own.
How You Like That, which was launched in June 2020; took 503 days to earn 1 billion views. Following ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ and their first single, ‘Boombayah,’; this is Blackpink’s fifth music video to exceed 1 billion views.
Blackpink is also tied for second place with Taylor Swift, Shakira, and Sia as a female performer with five music videos with one billion YouTube views. In addition, starting November 12th, their second documentary, ‘BLACKPINK THE MOVIE,’; which is part of their anniversary celebrations; will be released in a number of new nations that have recently opened their cinemas.
The members of Blackpink are busier than ever. With the launch of their K-drama, ‘Snowdrop,’ approaching, Jisoo and her co-star Jung Hae-in posed for a photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar magazine. Fans are commemorating Jennie’s third solo debut anniversary, as she released her first solo song, “SOLO,”; on November 12, 2018.
Lisa went to the HITC performance in California with Jennie at the same time. The Thai-born singer is also in the United States to promote her solo debut, ‘Lalisa’. Rosé was also spotted leaving a Knicks game, leaving fans wondering if she was in town for a new project.
