Billie Eilish Had A Condition To Wearing The Dress On Met Gala 2021
Billie Eilish was one of the co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala 2021. She made her debut at the charity event on Monday. The singer was donning a nude princess gown leaving the internet impressed. However, she was also trending on social media for a different reason.
The Grammy winner had posed a condition to her designer. She said that she will only opt for the dress if they completely stopped using fur in their production. Fortunately, they agreed and Billie channelled her Marilyn Monroe side with a similar bob haricut.
This marks the first time we saw the singer in a gorgeous gown as she usually dons casual clothing. Billie’s peach gown was designed by Oscar de la Renta who is well-known for his earlier Met Gala dresses as well. The singer had a condition to pick up the dress only if they stop using fur.
Billie shared pictures from the event along with a lengthy caption as she thanked the designer. The singer wrote, “Thank you @oscardelarenta for designing this BEAUTIFUL dress and bringing my ideas and vision to life. it was an honour to wear this dress knowing that going forward Oscar de la Renta will be completely fur-free!!!!”
The Happier Than Ever singer added that she is thrilled that her designer and the entire team heard her on the issue. She wrote that they have made a change that makes an impact for the greater good for animals, the planet and our environment. The singer concluded, “I urge all designers to do the same.”
Twitter Appreciates Billie Eilish
The theme of the 2021 Met Gala is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” honouring the 75th anniversary of the Costume Institute and celebrating modern American fashion and Elish sure made a mark in her gorgeous gown. The internet, on the other hand, was extremely impressed with the singer’s move.
Social media mirrored everybody’s feelings on Twitter. A user said, “She wore that dress on one condition, the designer stops designing and selling real fur garments. How many other artists get big-time designers to not use animal fur? And how is that not beneficial to the environment?” Another user said that Billie understood the assignment and had such a positive move for banishing the fur trade in high-end fashion.
Many others expressed that they wish many other celebrities would follow the same when it comes to wearing fur and other animal products. Another added, “Billie Eilish got an entire brand to stop using fur; if they wanted her to wear their clothing.. Do people realise how big that is”. And, another person concluded, “ok WAIT Billie Eilish agreeing to wear Oscar De La Renta; only if they stopped using fur in their production has saved the night for me. Best dressed, the end.”
