Bhavai, Pratik Gandhi’s Bollywood debut, has been pushed back till October 22nd

The musical drama Bhavai, starring Pratik Gandhi from Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, will now be released in theatres on October 22. The film, directed by Hardik Gajjar and produced by Pen Studios, was originally scheduled to hit theatres on October 1st.

The decision to reschedule the release came just days after the Maharashtra government announced that cinemas would reopen on October 22.

“Team Bhavai thanks the Government of Maharashtra for reopening theatres. Bhavai to release on 22nd October,”  In a statement, the makers said.

Have A Look

The film “Raavan Leela (Bhavai)” was previously titled “Raavan Leela (Bhavai)” and is about a popular folk theatre genre from Gujarat.

The makers were handed a show-cause notice by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) last week for violating certification standards and altering with the film’s content.

Following the release of the film’s trailer, the producers made two changes: the title was changed to simply Bhavai, and a sequence showing two theatre actors playing the roles of Ram (Ankur Vikal) and Raavan (Gandhi) in an off-stage conversation with each other was removed after it was deemed offensive by a section of the audience.

The makers modified the title in the trailer and included portions “deposited” with the film body, according to the CBFC. Aindrita Ray, Rajendra Gupta, Rajesh Sharma, and Abhimanyu Singh all play key parts in Bhavai.

Theatres To Open Soon on Maharashtra

Pratik Gandhi of ‘Scam: 1992′ fame plays Raja Ram Joshi, and South actress Aindrita Ray plays Rani in the film. The plot of the film centres around the love story of two actors who work in a theatrical company and how their on-stage lives effect their off-stage lives.

“We applaud the decision issued by the Maharashtra Government and Shri Uddhav Thackeray,” filmmaker Jayantilal Gada said, delighted about the reopening of theatres. Theatres are the heart and soul of the entertainment industry, as well as a source of income for thousands of Maharashtra families. We are overjoyed by this decision and have chosen to postpone the release of our film ‘Bhavai’ till October 22nd.
