Beyonce’s BeyGOOD Foundation Launches Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund

Beyonce and her foundation have been striving to help the Black community amid the pandemic.

On Thursday, Beyonce’s BeyGOOD Foundation announced via Instagram that they have partnered with NAACP. The partnership is to launch the Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund.

The amount of $10,000 will be granted to small businesses owned by Black people. This amount will help sustain their business during this difficult time. This information was revealed on the NAACP website. ‘The NAACP is proud to partner with BeyGOOD to help strengthen small businesses. And to ensure economic empowerment for Black businesses’ reads the website’s Impact Fund description.

Due to the pandemic and social injustice, Black people had a lot of difficulties to make amends. This idea led to the establishment of the Impact Fund. They explained that the challenges faced by black people cannot be understated. Due to the effects of the uprisings across the nation, many small businesses are suffering because of the damages.

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must either be a ‘Black-owned small business owner’. Or they should be able to ‘provide property damage or replacement estimates.’ These grants are only eligible for businesses located in Houston, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, and/or Minneapolis.

The application process for the BeyGOOD Foundation will be open on July 9. And will remain open until July 18. After the application process, the review process will occur from July 20 to July 29. All the selected applicants will be notified through Beyonce.com on July 30.

BeyGOOD was founded by Beyonce in 2013. The foundation is a way to inspire people to be kind, and charitable. But most importantly ‘to #BeyGood to themselves, to others, to the community, and our world.’

Back in May, BeyGOOD launched COVID-19 mobile testing relief in Houston. This comes after discovering that Black people in Houston were being disproportionately affected by the virus. The testing relief was launched along with the help of Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles.

‘The campaign has been created to start a movement to encourage black communities to prioritize health,’ read the BeyGOOD Instagram caption on the matter.

Recently, Beyonce received the humanitarian BET award from Michelle Obama saying that her ‘activism demands justice for black lives’.

While giving her acceptance speech, Beyonce dedicated her award to the protestors that are fighting against racial injustice. She praised them saying that they are proving to their ancestors that their struggle wasn’t wasted. Beyonce encouraged people to vote in the elections of 2020, as she accepted the award.

She encouraged everybody to continue to take action and to continue to dismantle a racist and unequal system.

“We have to vote like our life depends on it, because it does,” Beyonce said.

Michelle Obama presented the award to Beyonce praising her for her commitment to the black community. She says that you can see it in everything that she does, her music, her activism. Michelle praised her saying, “You can see it in everything she does, from her music that gives voice to black joy and black pain to her activism that demands justice for black lives.”

The former first lady continued saying Beyonce does all that while staying devoted to her children and loved ones. Michelle said she inspires her and everyone else.

Obama appreciated Beyonce for supporting younger performers and calling out ‘sexism and racism when she sees it’. Beyonce was praised for her undeniable work from the BeyGOOD foundation. She also ensured with her mother, Tina Knowles, that COVID testing is available to black residents.

The BET awards are known for celebrating black artists and sports personalities. The list of previous humanitarian awards includes Muhammad Ali, music producer Quincy Jones, and civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton.

This year’s ceremony showcased the on-going protests of Black Lives Matter and the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many others.
