Benedict Cumberbatch Surprises Fans by Visiting Comic Shop as Doctor Strange
Marvel’s favorite hero, Doctor Strange is loved by fans all around the world. So what is the next best thing? Meeting Doctor Strange in a comic shop of course.
Benedict Cumberbatch surprised few fans when he entered a comic shop as Doctor Strange. He was filming for the blockbuster Marvel movie when he decided to drop by and surprise his fans.
Director Scott Derrickson tweeted a video of the actor paying a visit to the nearby comic shop. Benedict was in character for his 2016 film and went full into the character for his fans by even narrowing down Dr. Stephen Strange’s accent,
Scott captioned the picture describing the never-before shown moment. He said he advised Benedict to drop by while shooting in Manhattan. The actor agreed and went inside. The clip displayed Benedict walking into the shop much to the owner’s delight.
One of the staff members held up the comic book next to the actor to match the similarity. Benedict quipped about wanting a job there if the movie did not work out.
We know Doctor Strange was a hit, making $677.7 million at the box office after its release. A sequel is in the making which will be released in 2022 called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, because of the ongoing pandemic, the sequel remains in doubt.
The owner joked saying if he wanted to work there, he would have to talk in the US accent. A glimpse was shared of the same clip when the movie released four years ago. However, this was the first time the entire clip was released for fans to see.
Doctor Strange was the story of a genius neurosurgeon who is brought into the world of mystical arts after a car crash brings his medical career to a crashing end. He eventually has to save the world from the wicked Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen).
The film also starred Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Benedict has since reprised his role as Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
