At Lord’s, Kohli made a decision that no one else in Indian Test cricket history has ever made

Some unexpected events occurred during the second innings of the Lord’s Test match. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane’s old style returned in this innings, which had been lost for some time.

Following the dismissals of Rohit, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli early in the game, Rahane and Pujara managed the Indian batting in their own style, watering the England bowlers. The two put on a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket, and the Indian squad began to recover.

Rahane followed with a half-century, and Pujara was also dismissed. Rishabh Pant offered some confidence, but he, too, was dismissed after reaching 22 runs.

For the first time at Lord’s, Kohli declares the innings.

In the second innings, it appeared that, following Rishabh’s dismissal, Team India would collapse and England would gain an advantage, but, thanks to Joe Root’s plan, Mo. Shami and Bumrah both played their finest innings in Test cricket. Shami scored an undefeated 56 and Bumrah a match-winning 34.

India scored 298 runs for 8 wickets in the second innings thanks to his batting, giving the side a 271-run lead. Following this, India’s captain Virat Kohli declared the innings, setting a target of 272 runs for England to win.

For the first time as an Indian captain in Test cricket, Virat Kohli declared the innings at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Before Virat Kohli’s declaration at Lord’s, no Indian captain had ever declared an innings in Test cricket. That is, Virat Kohli’s choice indicates how high Team India’s morale has risen, and that they are not scared to take risks even on foreign land.

Shami came out on top of a lot of legends

NS Shami has now surpassed some of the world’s finest Test batters in terms of individual scores at Lord’s. Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Matthew Hayden have never been able to score as many runs in a Test match at Lord’s as Shami has. Shami scored an unbeaten 56 from 70 balls in this match, with six fours and a six, and completed his half-century with a six.

Even legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, and Cheteshwar Pujara have never been able to play such a massive individual innings in a Test match on this ground.
