Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers Split After 10 Years of Marriage

After over a decade of marriage, Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers have filed for divorce. The couple who have been together for nearly 13 years all together, announced their separation on their respective Instagram’s alongside a throwback picture of the two.

“Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents,” the statement said. “It has been an incredible journey. But together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage.” It continued, “As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority. We understand this news lends itself to public dialogue. But in the interest of our children and our family, we’re asking for privacy, compassion and love during this time.”

The LA Superior Court Public Information Officer revealed that both Chambers’ divorce petition and Hammer’s response were filed on Friday, July 10. Together the couple share two children, 5-year-old daughter Harper and 3-year-old son Ford.

“They both still love each other very much and they’ve always been such a close knit family,” a source close to the couple revealed. “I know their main focus right now is their kids and making sure nothing changes for them.”

Armie and Elizabeth have sadly joined a long list of couples who have separated during the quarantine period.

How Armie and Elizabeth Met

Hammer first met Chambers through a mutual friend, artist, Tyler Ramsey, years before they eventually got married. In what seems like a scene out of a movie, Hammer was smitten with her at first sight. “I remember she pulled in and got out of the car,” the Call Me By Your Name actor said, “and I felt like I’d been knocked over.” They began dating some time later.

Getting married

“When we finally got together, Armie really wanted to get married,” Chambers revealed in an interview. “He sat me down and said, ‘Look, we don’t have to do this. We could just go our own ways. And then one day you’ll be 40 and divorced and we’ll run into each other, and we’ll laugh and go out to dinner and have this same connection. We’ll wonder why we wasted all of that time ” added Chambers. “‘Or we could just do it now and enjoy the ride.’”

The gorgeous couple tied the knot in a glamorous Southern California affair back in May 2010 after three years of dating.

Recently, the couple took to Instagram to celebrate their milestone 10 year anniversary. “TEN years married, twelve together, thirteen years as best friends. Happy Anniversary, my love,” Elizabeth gushed just weeks ago. “I’m beyond grateful for you, this decade, our family and the dreamiest Friday night anniversary sunset.”

As Parents

Five years into their marriage, Hammer and Chambers welcomed daughter Harper and 2 years after, their son Ford was born.

Just two weeks ago, the couple appeared to be enjoying a sun-filled family vacation in the Cayman Islands, where they also celebrated Father’s Day. Elizabeth shared the sweetest family photo of the foursome in the Caribbean and was all praise for Armie in her caption. “Happy Father’s Day to the master bedtime singer, omelette maker, steak griller, ‘water pusher,’ snorkel instructor, storyteller and so much more. Our babies couldn’t ask for a more adventurous and entertaining dad and we’re lucky that you’re ours. We love you,” she added.

Since then, they had been quarantining with their children in the Cayman Islands, where Hammer spent five years of his childhood. According to Instagram, however, Hammer seems to have gone back to L.A., while the rest of the family has stayed put in the Caribbean.
