Anupam Kher pens heartfelt note for Kirron Kher on 35th wedding anniversary: ‘I am and will always be there for you’

Beloved Bollywood couple, Kirron Kher and Anupam Kher just completed 35 years of their marriage. In order to mark the special day, Kher made the occasion doubly special by dedicating a romantic Instagram post for his wife. The “Special 26” actor shared a black-and-white throwback photo of the couple, in which he is seen lovingly kissing the actress on the forehead.

Kher accompanied the adorable photo with a touching note for his wife of 35 years. He wrote, “Dearest #Kirron!! Happy 35th Anniversary. We have known each other for almost 45 years. It is almost a lifetime. We have grown up together as two strong individuals. We don’t get to spend much time together. You are busy being a parliamentarian and I am busy being an actor. But I am and will always be there for you. You are a great girl. Stay safe. Love and prayers always! सालगिरह मुबारक! !! @kirronkhermp #MarriageAnniversary.”

Kirron Kher’s Response, “You are my strength and always have been”

While Kirron hasn’t commented on the post, she had the sweetest reply on Twitter as she called her husband her “strength” and her “friend.” Her tweet read, “Happy anniversary #Anupam . May God bless us with togetherness always. You are my strength and always have been. I miss you my husband, my friend, my lifelong partner. Thank you for always being there for me. Stay safe my dearest. सालगिरह मुबारक! @AnupamPKher #MarriageAnniversary”

Their romantic love story

The veteran actors’ evergreen chemistry is loved and looked up to by many. Anupam, who hailed from Kashmir, first met Kirron, in Chandigarh, as they were both a part of Chandigarh Theatre Group. Anupam, whose marriage was going through a rough phase, found a confidante in good friend Kirron in 1980.

Going through a rough patch in their respective marriages, Anupam and Kirron were two good friends who fell for each other with a common passion for acting.

“There was nothing he did not know about me, and I knew everything about him”

It was Anupam who first expressed his feelings for Kirron. In a past interview, Kirron recalled their friendship back in the day, saying, “We both were in theatre in Chandigarh, and we were the best of friends. There was nothing he did not know about me, and I knew everything about him, up to the extent of knowing which girl he was planning to patao. It was fun and we worked together well too. But there was no attraction of any kind beyond friendship.”

Both Kirron and Anupam were married, before they fell for each other. Anupam had an arranged marriage in 1979, but was not happy in that relationship. Meanwhile, Kirron was also married to a Mumbai-based businessman, Gautam Berry for five years. They also have a son named Sikandar together.

The rest is history…

Going through a rough patch in their personal lives and sharing a common passion for acting, the two fell in love, unknowingly. Anupam was the one who first expressed his feeling and went on to propose Kirron.

Sharing the fond memories of the proposal, Kirron said, “He came and knocked on my door, and said ” I want to talk to you.” He then said, “I think I have fallen in love with you.” And suddenly there was this immense, intense change, the chemistry exploded. I got a divorce and married him.”

The couple tied the knot in 1985. It was a private ceremony that took place in Gurgaon and was attended by all of their theatre friends. And the rest is history!

“Love and Prayers always”

In June, earlier this year, Anupam wished Kirron on her 65th birthday adding that he missed her. Since the actress was in Chandigarh to fulfil her duties as a BJP MP from the city, and he was quarantining with the rest of his family in Mumbai.

“Happy birthday my dearest #Kirron!! May God give you all the happiness in the world. May you have a long and healthy life. Sorry you are on your own in #Chandigarh and both @sikandarkher and I are not with you. But we miss you. Will meet you soon. On the work front…

The veteran actor was last seen in the film titled ‘One Day: Justice Delivered’ co-starring Esha Gupta. He played the role of a retired judge in the film while Esha essayed the role of a cop. The film was released in July 2019. The actor currently plays one of the protagonists on the American TV series, “New Amsterdam.” Meanwhile, Kirron Kher was last seen in ‘Khoobsurat,’ back in 2014, helmed by Shashanka Ghosh.

As of now, Anupam Kher is staying in Mumbai with his family. Kher was in Mumbai when the nationwide lockdown, due to the coronavirus outbreak, was announced in March. In July, four members of Anupam Kher’s family, mother Dulari, brother Raju, sister-in-law Reema and niece Vrinda, tested positive for Covid 19. His mother was hospitalized at the time but she made full recovery and was discharged after two weeks.
