Amy Schumer Says She ‘Can’t be Pregnant Ever Again’

Amy Schumer reveals she has no plans on expanding her family anytime soon.

Earlier this year, the comedian revealed that she was undergoing IVF treatment in an effort to give her child a sibling. She was freezing her eggs and trying to figure out how to do things. However, in an interview on Sunday Today with Willie Geist, she revealed she did IVF but it was really hard on her.

Amy says she does not think she will ever pursue IVF ever again. She shares a son, Gene with husband Chris Fischer. The actress has been very open about her journey and struggles of getting pregnant. She revealed after the first round of IVF treatment, the couple was only left with one embryo.

Amy said she and her husband have started accepting that they might only have one child. She revealed in a clip that she cannot ever get pregnant again. The comedian also said they did consider surrogacy but they are going to hold that off as well.

Amy took to her Instagram to announce that they are giving IVF a try by also posting a picture of her abdomen. Her abdomen looked swollen with bruises including a C-section scar. She captioned the picture saying she is one week into the IVF treatment and feels really down and emotional. Amy urged her fans to share their experience or get her some advice about the same. She also had her number on her Instagram bio.

Amy’s Struggle With Her First Pregnancy

Amy suffered debilitating hyperemesis gravidarum throughout her pregnancy. It gave her a lot of nausea and she used to vomit so much that it left her dehydrated and bedridden. There were also instances when she was hospitalized. She also suffers from endometriosis, which caused surgeons issues during her Cesarean section.

Amy revealed that she was throwing up during the first hour of her C-section. She told in Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy podcast that her C-section took three hours when it is only supposed to take one and a half hours.

Amy recently opened up about her decision to not breastfeed her son. She revealed on the podcast that she could not get her son to latch on. So she tried pumping her milk. The mother-of-one revealed, “I wanted him to get the colostrum,’ she said, referring to the antibody-rich substance a mother makes shortly after birth.

“We had a lactation expert come over. He didn’t latch and I just didn’t feel that push to make that happen. Then I pumped for like the first month. Then I was like, ‘Not for me.’ This is not for me and I didn’t want to do it.'”

Amy said some people love breastfeeding and said that she is happy for them but it was bumming her out. However, she felt proud of doing it and whatever and getting him the milk and stuff. Then she revealed it occurred to her that she could stop so she did.
