Amber Heard had accused Johnny Depp of giving her two black eyes in 2015. Coincidentally it was two days before she had to appear for an interview with James Corden. Although the stylist who did her make-up said there were no signs of injury on Heard’s face.
The stylist, Samantha McMillen said that she spent much of her time with Amber that day as she had to appear on The Late Late Show With James Corden. She said she could clearly see no marks on Amber.
Depp was accused of being violent towards Amber while having an argument in Los Angeles penthouse. The star is suing The Sun for an article posted by them describing him as a ‘wife-beater’.
However, McMillen said that she saw Amber closely in good light wearing no makeup. She said she ‘could see clearly that Ms Heard did not have any visible marks, bruises, cuts, or injuries’ to any part of her body. The stylist further claimed that after Amber’s appearance on the show she said, ‘Can you believe I just did that show with two black eyes?’
McMillen explained Heard had no injury throughout the day and at that moment. Samantha has been Depp’s stylist since 2002. She was also Heard’s stylist throughout their relationship. McMillen revealed that she only knew later that Heard had accused Depp of violently abusing her the previous night, December 15, 2015.
The stylist also revealed that as she was leaving Heard’s company she overheard Amber telling her friend, Raquel Pennington, to make sure those pictures go into her computer. Amber’s friend had also accompanied her on the show. McMillen clarified that she did not know what photographs she was talking about.
Were Amber’s Allegations False?
Heard’s legal team issued photographs of her injuries around the time of the alleged attack. But the photos are undated. Meanwhile, McMillen also revealed that Heard had no injuries on her face despite the actress claiming Depp had attacked her three days before. This reportedly happened in 2016.
McMillen further said she met Amber on May 24, 2016 and she was crying. But she clarified she saw no bruises or marks on her body. Just three days later McMillen saw Amber had gone to court with ‘prominent injuries’ allegedly inflicted by Depp.
However, the stylist clarified that Depp went out of town on May 22 which means there is no way he inflicted the injuries that Heard accused him of. McMillen was contacted via video link to testify in Depp’s libel claim against The Sun newspaper.
Sasha Wass represents The Sun’s publishers News Group Newspapers (NGN) said McMillen was called to give evidence about two dates – December 16, 2015 and May 24, 2016. The stylist had met and seen Amber these days.
Wass showed pictures of Heard with injuries on her face to McMillen. After McMillen was shown a photo of Amber with bruises, she said that is not how she saw Amber that day. Wass asked her if she agrees to that the picture shows Heard had an injury coming up underneath both eyes. McMillen said it was not a clear picture but it does look like something dark is around her eyes.

Wass said: ‘Your evidence is that you never saw any of these injuries in the afternoon or the night of December 16 when you were with Ms. Heard.’ McMillen said: ‘That’s correct.’ Wass however, continued that Heard had told several people on the 15th and the 16th about her injuries. And the barrister went on to ask if she had a good relationship with Heard. McMillen said they had a good working relationship.
Wass questioned McMillen on where her loyalties would lie between Depp or Heard. She mentioned their long relationship and asked her who would have her priority between Heard and Depp. McMillen said she does not understand what the barrister is trying to insinuate and clarifies she would not take sides. However, as for loyalties, she will be loyal to Depp because he was kind and loyal to her but she would not have any other reason.
Wass asked the stylist as to what she said when Heard told her about filming with two black eyes. She replied saying she did not ask her because they were leaving and going their separate ways. McMillen said, ‘I was confused by it and I think I said something like, ‘I don’t know what to say’.
McMillen was further asked about an email sent by Heard to her publicist, Jodi Gottlieb, on December 16. Heard wrote that she might have one or two black eyes by tomorrow. She also wrote she might not be fit for tomorrow but she won’t know until tomorrow morning. Wass asked if she knew why Heard would claim something like this if she had what she thought might develop into two black eyes. McMillen said she has no idea why Amber would do this.
Registered Nurse Unable to Find Injuries on Heard
David Sherborne, Depp’s barrister, referred to a visit from Heard to nurse, Erin Boerum. It was stated that Heard bruised her head and lost clumps of hair. However, the registered nurse briefly observed her scalp but was unable to find any injuries that Heard had described.
Sherborne referred back to the stylist’s meeting with Heard by chance. He noted she had been there before Heard arrived. The barrister said, “She doesn’t know you are going to be there … and you say that when she turned up, not knowing you were going to be there, she was not wearing make-up.” Ms McMillen said: “That’s correct.”
Sherborne further asked the stylist how Heard looked shortly before filming and McMillen clarified that is how she remembers her looking beautiful.
Depp revealed on court yesterday that he sent series of texts slamming Heard to his doctor after his finger was severed. In the texts, he blamed Amber for marrying him because she was ‘so desperate for success and fame’. Dr David Kipper received texts from Depp saying Heard had said he was a ‘sad old man’ and ‘has been’. Depp blamed her and said she purposely used hurtful tirades. He further texted about ‘her goddamn shocking treatment of the man she was meant to love’.
The property manager from Bahamas home who claimed that Heard insulted Depp during a row in December 2015. She told him that his ‘career is over’, ‘he would die a lonely man’ and called him ‘fat’. In the texts to Dr. Kipper, Depp wrote: ‘FAR MORE hurtful than her venomous and degrading, endless ‘educational’ ranting…??? Is her hideously and purposely hurtful tirades and her goddam shocking treatment of the man she was meant to love, above all…’
Is Depp Innocent?
Depp further texted that her obsession is with herself which is far more important. He said, ‘She is SO F***IN’ AMBITIOUS!!!’ The Pirates of the Caribbean fame explained that she is desperate for success and fame and that is probably why she is with him. He revealed in further texts that Dr. Connell Cowan, his other doctor, has done him a cruel favor. Depp expressed his sadness saying he severed the top of my middle finger off.
He further asks Kipper what he should do except go to a hospital. Depp regrets on jumping into anything with Heard in the text exchange. Wass then called Tara Roberts, Depp’s estate manager on his island in the Bahamas. She was asked if her livelihood depends on Depp to which she responded saying no and clarified she has other sources of income.
Tara went on to claim that Heard was violent with Depp and clarified that she saw Depp with a ‘gash’ on the bridge of his nose. She specified that it wasn’t bleeding and confirmed that the actor never suggested her to take a picture of him. Roberts was asked about Heard’s bruises on her cheek to which she said it was not visible to her.
Roberts was shown a photograph of Heard’s face with bruises. She said there was no sign of injuries on her when she saw the couple after the argument. On being showed a video of Depp being violent, Roberts said she never saw this video before it was played in court. She confirmed that she does not see Depp being violent with Heard in the video.
Depps Bodyguard Describes Horrific Incident
In the further proceeding, Depp’s bodyguard claimed Depp was ‘in emotional distress’ after his finger was severed in Australia. And he had allegedly had a cigarette stubbed on his face by Heard. Malcolm Connolly has worked with Depp for almost 16 years. He described the fight and said a Heard and Depp were screaming at each other he took Depp outside into his car. Connolly said the car door was open and Depp said, ‘Look at my finger. She’s cut my f***ing finger off. She’s smashed my hand with a vodka bottle’.
Depp’s bodyguard said his hand was a mess and further claimed Heard came out of the house and started screaming. He said she was not making any sense. Heard said, screaming and crying, calling out words along the lines of ‘Are you just going to leave it like this, you f***ing coward?’ Connolly said one second Heard was begging Johnny not to leave the house and then she was screaming at him for running away.
Depp’s bodyguard said he was afraid Heard might throw objects at Depp or him as she had done that before too. He gave instances saying, ‘For example, I had seen her lob a fork in Johnny’s general direction once; another time I recall she threw a lighter at him, another time a can of coke. I knew that we needed to get out of there as soon as possible.’
Connolly also claimed to have seen no marks or bruises on Heard’s face. Depp and Heard have a case we cannot really wrap our heads around. But let us wait and hope that justice be given to whoever is at the wrong.
