Amanda Seyfried reveals that she is frightened of ‘postpartum depression’

Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she is expecting a child. At the A Mouthful of Air screening on Sunday night at the Roxy Hotel in New York City, the actress disclosed new details about her newborn son’s birth to PEOPLE.

“Something went awry with my second pregnancy. The baby was fine, but it was difficult and painful, and it shouldn’t have happened in the first place, so it added to the trauma “According to the 35-year-old Oscar nominee

Postpartum depression

The actor, though, has a 4-year-old kid with his 45-year-old husband, Thomas Sadoski. The couple announced the arrival of their second child in a statement to INARA and War Child USA in September 2020.

“Our devotion to the innocent children who are so brutally affected by violence and war has been a motivating force in our lives since the birth of our daughter three years ago,” their statement said at the time. “The work of INARA and War Child has become our North Star since the birth of our son.” Seyfried also discussed how she and her husband dealt with her spinal troubles while raising their two children.

“You just do. I had to feed him, my husband was with my daughter, and I had friends who could drive me back to the hospital because I had just gotten out of the hospital.”

Meanwhile, Seyfried tells PEOPLE about how she avoided postpartum depression by practicing self-care. “I was frightened about getting postpartum depression after giving birth. I ended up undergoing a lot of CBT therapy before having my first child, and I was quite fortunate in that I didn’t experience any sadness after that, and I felt like I had won in some sense “she explains. “The struggle was difficult, and it was extremely difficult, but it wasn’t something I didn’t believe I could handle. That’s partly because I was on medicine with my second child and never got off of it.”
