Alexander James Rodriguez Named Youngest HMMA Nominee

Pop Music’s Newcomer, Alexander James Rodriguez, is the Youngest Nominee at this year’s Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA)

It’s official, 14-year-old actor and recording artist Alexander James Rodriguez is the youngest nominee to receive a Hollywood Music in Media Awards nomination at this year’s awards ceremony, with his song ‘Cherry Bomb’ paving the way for this unsigned heartthrob to become one of the music industry’s biggest upcoming teen stars.

Alexander James Rodriguez is being recognized for Music Video (Independent) and is among some of the music industries elite with Oscar contenders Beyoncé and Van Morrison who also received nominations in the visual media categories.

Dripping with witty metaphors and smooth one-liners, Cherry Bomb is Alexander’s tenth studio single to be released as an independent recording artist since launching his music career mid-pandemic in 2020. The effervescent “Cherry Bomb” music video, bursting with vibrant colors, is set in a 1950’s American diner.

Making good use of his acting chops, and with a dance routine choreographed by Marvin Brown (HBO Max: We’re Here, D23: High School Musical), Alexander is joined by teen dancers Isidora Villagra, Jedd Berina, Kaileia Dixon, and McKenzie Cole who give audiences high-energy flips, kicks, and splits.

Now in its 12^th year, the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) honor composers, songwriters, and music supervisors for their work in music for film, television, and videogames, as well as sci-fi, animation, documentary, and independent films in the score categories.

Other nominees this year include Arianna Grande for “Just Look Up” from Don’t Look Up (Netflix), Jennifer Hudson, Hailey Kilgore and Saycon Sengbloh for “Respect” from Respect (MGM) and “No Time to Die” from No Time To Die (MGM), performed by Billie Eilish.
