After Season 1, the Halo TV show will be without a showrunner

If season 2 of Paramount Plus’ Halo TV series is picked up, a new showrunner will take up production. The original Xbox game, developed by Bungie, was released in 2001 and had a primary sci-fi tale about a long-brewing interplanetary war. The POV game was a huge commercial and critical hit, generating a TV show and a media franchise. Its most recent project is a television version of the Halo tale.

According to Variety, Halo’s showrunner will not be returning after season 1 finishes. Steven Kane, the current showrunner, has apparently opted to leave the project due to personal reasons. Kane has been filming in Budapest since 2019 after a challenging production procedure that included repeated delays due to COVID.

Kane is the project’s second showrunner to leave, following former co-showrunner Kyle Killen, who left before filming began.

Despite the fact that Halo has not yet been renewed for a second season, the adaption is projected to gain a significant audience and will most likely be renewed after its first season. With the high-budget production, Paramount+, 343 Industries, and ViacomCBS are definitely riding on Halo’s success. Kane has written and produced for a variety of shows, including The Closer, NCIS, and American Dad!, so his replacement might come from anywhere.

The series will be centred on the core fight in the Halo games, which takes place in the year 2500, between an old extraterrestrial enemy and humanity. The official logline for the show teases “an epic war between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant in the 26th century”.

Halo will combine finely created personal storylines with action, adventure, and a richly imagined future vision.” Halo will premiere in early 2022, with Pablo Schreiber in the major role.
