Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently working on the post-production process for his upcoming venture, Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt. But after the huge success of Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmavat, Deepika Padukone and the filmmaker might be collaborating once again.
As per the latest reports, Sanjay has roped in the Chhapak actress to play the female lead of his next ambitious project, Baiju Bawra. It is about dacoit queen, Roopmati. The duo have already been on multiple meetings together for narrations and will be taking things forward officially once the investors agree with the aspects of the project.
They are planning to star the production by mid 2022. There are other actors who are also having talks with the filmmaker simultaneously. Sanjay will announce the venture once all the makers finalize the complete cast and crew. Baiju, Gauri, Tansen, and Akbar are other four main characters in the movie. SLB is obviously expected to cast big names for these roles. According to reports, the fimmaker will also be the part of the musical department of the venture. He will go all out and will not compromise on any aspect like any other film.
Deepika, on the other hand, will soon start shooting for The Intern remake with Amitabh Bachchan. The actress talked about the venture as she described it as “an intimate relationship-driven film”. She said it is set in and around the workplace and is a story that is relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment.
The Bajirao Mastani actress further added that she has been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in. Deepika said, “I cannot wait to begin this journey.” On the other hand, Denzil Dias, Managing Director – Warner Bros. India had added, “This is an exciting time for us to be partnering in local language production with the team at AZURE, who are passionate about film and storytelling. THE INTERN has been at the top of our list for potential adaptations and this is an enviable talent packaging for the adaptation.”
Deepika is currently working with Shah Rukh Khan for their upcoming movie, Pathan.
