It’s been over a decade since Maroon 5’s steamy music video for “She Will Be Loved” came out. But Singer Adam Levine to this date remembers the passionate on-screen kiss he shared with the late Kelly Preston in the music video.

The Maroon 5 front man recently made a guest appearance on Sirius XM’s The Howard Stern Show, where he told host Howard stern how the late actress taught him to kiss for the camera.

In the popular 2009 music video, Levine, who is initially dating a girl closer to his age, ends up finding an older love interest in her mother, played by Preston, instead. The Voice coach revealed that at the time he wanted either Diane Lane or Preston to play the role of the mother.

“I fall in love with the mom. It’s very Graduate-ty”

Describing his ideology behind the music video, Adam explains, “I fall in love with the mom. It’s very Graduate-ty, very Graduate,” says Levine. Adam recalled fond memories of meeting the actress for the first time. “When we sat there and I first met her, she was super cool,” he recollected. The “Memories” crooner confessed to feeling extremely nervous, as he had never been intimate with a stranger before. “I remember I was nervous because not only had I not kissed a person I didn’t know before, that was definitely older than me. And who I definitely for sure 100 percent even remember specifically doing s*** to back in the day. Now I’m in the f***ing room with this person and I can’t believe it.”

“I gave her a real French kiss. I’ll never forget it for as long as I live”

While the experience was daunting for Levine, he disclosed that Preston made him “feel comfortable” while shooting the video. However, when the actual time came, Levine remembers moving a little too fast to kiss her.

“Right as we do it, I just kiss her, kiss her. I didn’t know what a movie kiss was, “ the singer admitted. “I wouldn’t say I jammed my tongue down her throat but I would say I gave her a real French kiss. I’ll never forget it for as long as I live,” the “Girls like You” singer confessed.

Levine continued, recalling, “I go in to kiss her and she’s like, ‘Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa cowboy.’ I was like ‘What did I do?’ She’s like, ‘You don’t use the tongue,'” he remembers Preston telling him.

The 41 year old singer teased that he wished he had footage of her initial reaction. Looking back at the clip, he recalled it being, “one of those isolated, beautiful experiences.”

“It’s so crazy that she passed away, It blows me away. I can’t even believe it.”

“The video wound up becoming this classic video that everyone loves,” he said. Talking about the late actress, Levine admitted, “I never got to speak to her about it. Life goes on and obviously, we never crossed paths again. I was so sad to hear that news, man. It’s so crazy that she passed away,” he added. “It blows me away. I can’t even believe it.”
