Geralt and Ciri Approach Kaer Morhen in the Witcher Season 2 Poster
In a new poster for Netflix’s The Witcher season 2, Geralt and Ciri can be seen approaching Kaer Morhen. The Witcher, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series of the same name, premiered in December 2019 on Netflix as one of the largest first seasons in the service’s history.
The series deviates from the source material in one major way: it introduces Henry Cavill’s Geralt (the mutated monster-hunting “Witcher”), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) through three timelines, something that isn’t entirely clear until Ciri becomes Geralt’s child of surprise in episode 4.
Geralt And Ciri
The three major characters’ paths cross at the end of Season 1, with Geralt eventually discovering Ciri. Season 2’s plot will be more linear as the two come to terms with their common purpose, which will lead them to Kaer Morhen, a key location in The Witcher universe.
The second season is expected to adapt Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves, which takes Geralt and Ciri to the old castle where the School of the Wolf’s witchers are trained. The casting of Geralt’s mentor/father figure, Vesemir (Kim Bodnia), as well as a host of other monster hunters, has received the most attention.
Women don’t learn to be witches because they don’t usually survive the Trail of Dreams, as referred to in the series premiere (something only three out of ten men survive).
Date Revealed
Netflix announced the release date for The Witcher season 2 at WitcherCon, along with a poster picturing Geralt and Ciri approaching Kaer Morhen. The characters are dressed in costumes that are similar to those from the first season.
Take a look at the following:
After a break caused by the coronavirus outbreak, filming on The Witcher resumed in September. Season 2 has been two years in the development, and it promises to provide fans of the books, video game series, and television more than just Kaer Morhen. The old castle can only be reached by following “The Witchers Trail,” also known as “The Killer,” a perilous path afflicted by wizards and priests who see witchers as abominations and murder witchers-in-training and/or teachers.
