“Baby Shark Dance Video” Defeated “Shape of You”, Become Second Most Viewed Video On YouTube
The English version of the “Baby Shark Dance” video overtook Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” to become the second most viewed video on YouTube on Monday.
South Korea’s children’s academic brand Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark Dance” video sits at 4.68 billion views over Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” that has 4.64 billion views as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The most viewed video on YouTube remains Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” that has clocked up 4.65 billion views.
Released on YouTube on June 17, 2016, “Baby Shark Dance” is a remake of an American song. Pinkfong added a catchy, addictive melody that became a worldwide sensation. The song comes with a straightforward to follow dance that has enticed several youngsters and fogeys.
The YouTube success of the video allowed the song to succeed in 32nd spot on Billboard Hot 100 in January 2019. The video was any promoted through a performance of the dance by famed K-pop groups like Red Velvet and Blackpink. The Washington Nationals additionally took up the song as a team anthem. As a result, the song went on to win the World Series last year. Resulting in the White House taking part in the song throughout the celebration.
