Multilingual television is a step forward for Indian culture since it recognizes the country’s cultural diversity, which includes the spoken language. Malayalis played by Malayalis and Kashmiris performed by Kashmiri actors were featured in Season 1 of The Family Man.

The representation of Eelam Tamils in the trailer for The Family Man Season 2 has sparked an unseemly dispute, which appears to be political. As many people are aware, the show is truly pan-Indian television because it features South Indians who speak their own languages with Hindi-speaking North Indians.

Anti-Tamil Alligations

Srikanth Tiwari of the NIA was played by Manoj Bajpayee, while his Tamil wife Suchitra Iyer was played by South-Indian actress Priyamani. As a terrorist action show, it attempted to inject a tiny little bit of reality into an overly crowded field. Multilingual television is a step forward for India’s culture since it acknowledges the country’s cultural diversity, which includes the spoken language. Malayalis played by Malayalis and Kashmiris performed by Kashmiri actors were featured in Season 1 of The Family Man.

The trailer for The Family Man Season 2 must be seen in this context. The film is an espionage thriller, and searching for terrorist threats exclusively in the North-West becomes boring. If a Season 2 is necessary, an intelligence series must explore in a different direction, and moving southern towards Eelam Tamils, who have a history of terrorism, seem to be the most apparent alternative.

Since the LTTE assassinated India’s former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the fact that the LTTE has been destroyed in Sri Lanka is of little concern, therefore no one should complain to the ploy in fiction. The DMK was known to be sympathetic to the LTTE when it was active, but that should now be history.

The Family Man’s producers and lead actor have appealed with the Tamil Nadu government, saying that they have the utmost regard for the state and that they can see the disaster that awaits them if the series is banned. They’ve protested loudly that the series isn’t “anti-Tamil,” and there’s no reason to disagree. When you watch the teaser, you’ll see that the opponent is termed Tamil, which isn’t a slur on Tamils because there are huge Tamil populations in other countries like Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
