Harry Potter Sequels Teased By WarnerMedia CEO
The CEO of WarnerMedia has hinted that there might be a future for Harry Potter sequels saying there is a “lot of fun and potential there”.
The entire Harry Potter franchise is J. K. Rowling’s best-selling novels which were adapted into a hugely successful movie franchise. The movies released between 2001 to 2011. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack Kilar opened up about the future of the media empire.
This happened at a virtual appearance at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference. He said there is one little thing called Harry Potter which is one of the most beloved franchises. The CEO revealed, “And we’re incredibly thankful to be able to partner with JK Rowling and so I would argue there’s a lot of fun and potential there as well.”
Jack did not elaborate on his comments and did not give out any further details. However, before this, it was reported that there will be a Harry Potter live-action TV series. It was reported that it was in early development at HBO Max. But Warner Bros. had denied the reports being true.
The film franchise has already expanded with its spin-off film franchise, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. And two movies have been released from the planned five movies of the spin-off. It features Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander as the plot takes place decades before Harry Potter.
Johnny Depp was playing the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the first two films. However, he had to resign from the series after he lost his libel case against The Sun over a 2018 article where he was labeled as “wife-beater”.

Radcliffe Embarrassed By His Acting
Daniel Radcliffe recently opened up about his embarrassment at his early acting in the film franchise. He was speaking to fellow Lord of the Rings star, Elijah Wood for Empire Magazine. He said, “It’s hard to separate my relationship with Harry from my relationship with the films as a whole.”
The actor further added how grateful he is for the experience and it showed him what he wanted to do with his life. He said, “To find out early on what you love is really lucky.” However, he shared he is intensely embarrassed by some of his acting. “I’m intensely embarrassed by some of my acting, obviously [laughs], but yeah, it’s like asking, ‘how do you feel about your teenage years?’“ the actor said.
Sources have claimed previously that a Harry Potter live-action TV series is in the early development stage at HBO Max. The Hollywood Reporter reports that executives at the WarnerMedia backed streamer have engaged in various conversations with potential writers.
They are exploring multiple ideas that would bring the property to television. The sources also revealed that some broad ideas have been discussed as part of the early-stage exploratory meanings. However, there are discussions among the executives at HBO Max and Warners to find suitable writers and pitch for the show.
Although there have been no attachments at the moment as no deals have been made. “There is no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,”; HBO Max and Warner Bros. reaffirmed in a statement to THR.
Harry Potter Live-Action TV Series
As the world of Harry Potter is expanding, it remains a top priority for HBO Max and Warner Bros., along with J.K. Rowling who holds control over the rights of property. Harry Potter remains one of the most valuable pieces of Warner Bros.
However, it is also noteworthy to remember that while the franchise remains a fan-favorite all over; Rowling has sparked a backlash from the trans community after saying that transgender individuals should be defined by their biological sex.
Coming back to the big news, the talks for the Harry Potter TV series should not come as a surprise to fans. The franchise held a lot of value to Warner Bros. The seven-book series written by Rowling was adapted into 8 feature films that earned more than $7 billion worldwide.
