OpenAI’s ChatGPT Struggles With Second Outage in June
OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, faced technical difficulties on June 17th, 2024, leaving users unable to access the service for several hours. This marks the second outage for ChatGPT this month, raising concerns about the platform’s stability.
Reports of issues accessing ChatGPT began surfacing around 2:00 PM EST on Monday. Users attempting to interact with the chatbot were met with error messages or unresponsive interfaces. OpenAI quickly acknowledged the problem through their official status page, stating they were investigating “elevated error rates” affecting ChatGPT.
The cause of the outage remains undisclosed. However, this is not the first time ChatGPT has encountered technical difficulties this month. On June 4th, 2024, the service experienced a similar outage that lasted for several hours. While OpenAI attributed the previous incident to unexpected traffic surges, the cause behind this latest disruption is unclear.
The repeated outages raise questions about the reliability of ChatGPT, particularly for users who rely on the platform for critical tasks or creative endeavors. This instability could potentially push users towards alternative AI chatbots with a more consistent track record.
OpenAI has yet to provide a timeline for when ChatGPT services will be fully restored. However, their status page assures users that they are actively working to resolve the issue.
