Ed Sheeran, Sunmi, Jessi To Drop Shiver Remix, Fans Say “Life Is So Unpredictable”

Fans are expecting all kinds of interactions and collaborations with their favourite heroes as the year-end award presentations and music shows approach; but no one could have predicted this trio. Sunmi got viral almost instantly when she tweeted an “Ed Sheeran ‘Shivers’ by Jessi and SUNMI” coming soon poster.

Fans assumed the two female superstars were set to release a version of Ed Sheeran’s current single, but that was not the case. For those who are unaware, Ed Sheeran is a big fan of K-pop and has even worked in the business. Most recently penning BTS’ “Permission to Dance.” Fans wondered if he would collaborate with the super-project group MSG Wannabe; after he talked with them.

Ed Sheeran was invited and will perform at the Mnet Asian Music Awards; aka MAMA 2021, the biggest K-pop award show; it was announced last week. Some speculated that he might have a collab stage with Jessi and Sunmi at MAMA.

That’s a possibility, given that we’ve had previous collaborations like Dua Lipa and Mamamoo’s Hwasa perform their remix on the MAMA stage. Sunmi’s post, on the other hand, was clarified by Warner Music Korea. According to a statement provided by the label, Ed Sheeran, Jessi, and Sunmi collaborated on the new ‘Shivers’ version.

We have prepared hard to show you [this collaboration], so we ask for your interest and love,” they continued. The rendition of ‘Shivers’ by Ed Sheeran, Jessi, and Sunmi will be published on November 24 at 6 p.m. KST (4 am ET). Spotify, Apple Music, MelOn, and other major music streaming sites will have the new remix available.

All three musicians are brilliant, yet their approaches are so dissimilar that this cooperation is somewhat shocking. Fans had a lot to say about Jessi and Sunmi’s ballads and gentle pop tunes; as well as Ed Sheeran’s rare rock singles. With Jessi and Sunmi’s bad girl image contrasting with Ed Sheeran’s gentle ballads and peppy pop songs; fans created the most hilarious memes for this collaboration.

One user joked, “Sunmi jessi and ed sheeran is the kind of combo you end up with when the teachers made the teams for the group projects themselves”. It’s most likely a cover by the two of them  unless there’s a collab stage at an award show then its a collab but either way aht aht ion wanna see negativity in faves mentions.”
