Ariana Grande reveals how she got a part in Leonardo’s film Don’t Look Up
Ariana Grande will play a supporting role in Adam McKay’s next film Don’t Look Up, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothee Chalamet, and Meryl Streep.
The singer discussed her role in the film and how she came on board for the multi-starrer during a recent visit to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.
Ariana Grande’s part on Don’t Give Up
The 28-year-old singer revealed that she is a fan of director Adam McKay’s work and that when he approached her for a role, she was excited, but she wanted to “earn it,” so she insisted on an audition.
Grande revealed the reason behind her and McKay’s encounter, saying, “‘I’m a great fan of his work. I’m a huge comedy lover and he’s one of my favorites. ‘I have this role for you in my upcoming movie,’ he added, reaching out. ‘Oh, my god,’ I exclaimed. Hold my horses, because I have had to audition, I have to earn this, I have to tape myself.'”
Although the filmmaker told her it wasn’t necessary because it was such a little part, she read it and fell in love with it. Grande also revealed a little information about her character in the film, telling Fallon that her character is Riley Bina, and she is an aloof popstar in a relationship with Kid Cudi’s DJ Cello.
The teaser for Don’t Look Up teased an intriguing picture featuring powerful performances from DiCaprio and Lawrence as astronomy teachers, as well as Meryl Streep in the role of US President. The film will be released in theatres on December 10 and on Netflix on December 24.
