NCT 127’s ‘Favourite’ Debuts On Billboard At #8, Sticker Continues To Rule Charts
NCT could have a breakout year in 2021. The fixed sub-unit NCT Dream was the first to make history by becoming the youngest group to sell three million copies. The Minister of Culture then recognised them at the 2021 Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards. With their recent singles Sticker and Favourite, the group’s first sub-unit NCT 127 is dominating local as well as worldwide charts like Billboard.
NCT 127 is making up for a lost time after the release of their first Japanese album, Loveholic, in early 2021. They then released the unorthodox Sticker, which caught K-pop by storm; followed by the repackaged album Favourite, a month later. We also had the members furthering their own careers, with Taeil appearing on Raiden’s debut EP. Taeyong, the group’s captain, is a judge on Street Woman Fighter; while Jaehyun is the newest idol to play a gay role in the K-drama Bungee Jumping of Their Own.
Meanwhile, fans are enthusiastic about NCT 127’s most recent offerings. NCT 127 has crossed a total of 3.5 million sales throughout all of their albums published in 2021; thanks to the release of Favourite, which sold 1.1 million copies. As a result, they will be triple-million sellers in 2021.
With the publication of Neo Zone and its repackage Neo Zone: The Final Round; they were double million sellers last year. Furthermore, Sticker has been on the Billboard 200 for six weeks in a row; with the album currently sitting at #106.
They improved 94 spots from last week’s ranking of #200. NCT 127’s record as the second-longest charting 2021 K-pop album on the Billboard 200 chart has been extended. In addition, the album is currently ranked #2 on the World Albums chart. It was also their first Korean-language album to sell 100,000 copies in Japan; according to Oricon. NCT 127 became the tenth K-pop group to achieve this feat.
In the first 24 hours of its release, Favorite topped charts such as Bugs and iTunes in 15 countries. In less than 48 hours, the music video for Favourite had surpassed 15 million views on YouTube. This week, the album was also charted on Billboard.
The album’s three new songs are all charted on the World Digital Song Sales chart. Favourite (Vampire) debuted at number eight; Love On The Floor at number seventeen, and Pilot at number twenty-three. Favourite (Vampire), the album’s title tune, also charted on the Global Excl. US and Global 200 lists.
The album also debuted at #5 on the Billboard Japan Download Albums Chart and #30 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums Chart. The title tune is also charted in Billboard Japan’s Top Download Songs, Hot 100, and Top Streaming Songs.
