BTS Love Myself Campaign Collects $3.5M In Donations: UNICEF Report
BTS’ growth has been unmatched ever since they tried to expand their music into something deeper. The K-Pop band began like any other band but they became globally successful and grew not only as people but also in their mindsets.
RM had previously mentioned how he knows and takes responsibility for his previous actions. But taking accountability is just one part of it as they have gone beyond that as well. The band has created songs to change mindsets as well as donated to charitable causes. They have come together to spread the message that they want to be passed on to their fans and everyone else.
BTS launched the Love Myself campaign back in November 2017 in partnership with UNICEF. This was an anti-violence campaign and it was in partnership with Korean and Japanese committees for UNICEF. This was merely introduced as a sponsorship project to the #ENDviolence campaign.
These projects have aimed at the protection of young people in order for them to lead lives without fear of violence. BTS promoted the campaign as the #BTSLoveMyself campaign and urged fans and supporters to post self-loving photos using this hashtag. They became the first group from South Korea to raise funds as part of the social fund for global campaigns.
It is worthy of noting that the campaign is the first Korea-based campaign to be expanded globally. The campaign was renewed later in 2021 and has already recorded great results. It has garnered 5 million tweets and over 50 million engagements as of October. The campaign also collected 4.2 billion won.
Love Myself campaign has been successful as it was globally recognized for its influence. Given BTS’ recent actions and their speeches at the 2021 United Nations General Assembly regarding the mental health of youth around the world, the World Children’s Status Report focuses on children’s mental health during COVID-19.
