Anthony Johnson, a comedian and actor, died at the age of 55

According to his representative LyNea Bell, Anthony Johnson, the comedian and actor who played the legendary Ezal in the film Friday, has died. He was 55 years old at the time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, no further information about his death has been provided. “We’ve lost a legend. Bell told THR, “He will be deeply missed.”

“He has left us with incredible memories of his laughter, dynamic acting abilities, and, most importantly, his huge personality and golden heart. We will keep his entire family in our thoughts and prayers, especially his wife Lexis, three children, brother Edward ‘Peanut’ Smith, sister Sheila, and long-time manager and friend Mike D. Please. According to THR, Bell added, “Give them the time they need to process and grieve such a significant loss.”

House Party, Menace II Society, and Lethal Weapon 3 were among the many television shows and films in which the actor, also known as “A.J. Johnson,” appeared. He also appeared in the I Got the Hook-Up film series. Meanwhile, the Compton, California-based stand-up comedian earned his big break in 1990 when he was cast as E.Z.E. in the Kid ‘n Play classic House Party.

He’d also appear in the third instalment of House Party. Johnson is best known for his humorous role of Ezal in the 1995 film Friday, in which he played a man who was either stealing or plotting for quick cash, such as his fake slip and fall at the corner shop. Johnson’s wife, three children, and brother survive him.

On Twitter, Ice Cube paid respect to the actor and comedian.
