Selena Gomez’s Thoughts On Martin Short & Steve Martin’s Success Of “Only Murders”
It’s not a joke! Selena Gomez is thrilled about her work on the new Hulu series Only Murders in the Building, which she co-created with comedy legends Steve Martin, 76, and Martin Short, 71.
According to a source close to the 29-year-old actress, she is excited about the show’s popularity and what it possibly lead to. Given the show’s positive reviews, perhaps Selena will accept an Emmy trophy next year!
Huge Success of “Only Murders”
Selena believes her role as Mabel Mora in the true crime sitcom might be a career-defining part, according to a source close to the actress. “After all that Selena has accomplished in the industry, both in acting and music, she feels that she has finally found her place, thanks to the success of Only Murders In The Building.
Working and continuing to work with Steve Martin and Martin Short on something that has been so highly received, she believes it has pushed her into positions she truly desires,” the source said.
The pairing of the comedic classics and the singer of “999” has resulted in a smash hit! According to Deadline, the show was renewed for a second season and was the most watched original comedy to debut on Hulu. Selena appears to be seeing a world of possibilities open up as a result of her outstanding performance on the show. “In a strange and lovely manner, she believes her position as Mabel has opened some doors by proving to producers and directors that she can hang with a fantastic set of scripts and work on some fun meaty and amusing material. She’s enjoying this stage of her career and is also working on her cooking show; it just feels like she’s found something special in her job that will lead to an even brighter future,” the insider said.
Only Murders on Emmy 2022
Given how well Selena’s performance in Only Murders in the Building was received, perhaps we’ll all be lucky enough to see her in the comedy categories at the 2022 Emmy Awards next year! Ted Lasso took home the title for Best Comedy Series at the 2021 award presentation on Sunday, September 19, while its actor Jason Sudeikis took home the trophy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. For her role in Hacks, Jean Smart won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
