Virat Kohli speaks out for the first time since the 5th Test was cancelled
After the fifth India versus England Test match in Manchester was cancelled owing to Covid-19 worries in the Indian camp, India captain Virat Kohli spoke out for the first time. After the series-decider against England was cancelled, Kohli and the other Indian cricketers travelled to Dubai and Abu Dhabi early to join their respective IPL teams.
“Unfortunate”
Kohli said it was “unfortunate” that they had to leave England without finishing the series and arrive in the UAE earlier than expected for the rest of the IPL 2021 season, which starts on September 19.
“It’s unfortunate that we had to arrive early, but things are really uncertain now that COVID is in place. “Anything can happen at any time,” Kohli said on the RCB Digital Media Platforms as part of the “RCB Bold Diaries” series.
Kohli , the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mohammed Siraj arrived in the UAE on Sunday (12 September) after RCB provided for their safe transit from Manchester to Dubai via chartered flight. They will be quarantined for six days before joining the training crew.
Safe Bio Bubble
Kohli emphasised the importance of maintaining a safe bio bubble environment.
“Hopefully, we’ll be able to keep a good, strong, and secure environment while still having a successful IPL.” It’ll be an exciting and important period for us at RCB, as well as for the Indian squad at the T20 World Cup,” he remarked.
The fifth Test was called off after Indian players reportedly expressed their unwillingness to play after India’s assistant physio Yogesh Parmar’s Covid positive result on the night of the match.
