Eminem’s Home Invader Said He Was ‘There to Kill Him,’ Officer Testifies
On Wednesday, a police officer, responding to an April home invasion at Eminem’s house revealed that the intruder was there to kill the rapper.
During the preliminary examination, in Macomb County District Court, the police officer testified. Matthew David Hughes was the man accused of breaking into Eminem a.k.a Marshall Mathers, on April 5. The man has been in jail since then.

The police officer, Adam Hackstock, revealed that Eminem woke up to the man standing behind him. The rapper initially thought it was his nephew before realizing he was actually the intruder. “When Mr. Mathers asked him why he was there,” Adam said, “he was told by Mr. Hughes that he was there to kill him.”
The intruder, Matthew, is charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property. However, Eminem did not show up on court but his attorney was present for the proceedings via video call.

Police officer, Adam, revealed when he arrived at Eminem’s house that night, a security guard was wrestling with the intruder. Adam said that Matthew introduced himself as a friend who lived nearby. The rapper told the officer that he walked Matthew through several rooms before taking him out of the house. The officer added that the intruder was not carrying any weapons.
The police officer also revealed that there was a brick that was found inside the broken window of Eminem’s property. CCTV footage for Eminem’s house showed that Matthew was on the premises for “quite some time” before he climbed through the window.
The judge on the case has found cause for it to move forward to trial. It is scheduled for September 28 arraignment in Macomb County Circuit Court.

The intruder, Matthew, is being held on a $50,000 bond. The judge has denied any requests to reduce the bond by the suspect’s attorney. The prosecutors on the case believe that Matthew is homeless. The suspect’s court-appointed attorney, Richard Glanda, said that “mental issues” may be at play with his client.
Matthew gained access to Eminem’s house at around 4 am as reported on April 5. He broke a kitchen window with a paving stone. The intruder’s breaking in triggered the security alarms to go off. Eminem is said to have confronted the intruder and did not allow him to leave until the police came in.
