Certified Lover Boy by Drake smashes Apple Music and Spotify records, becoming the most streamed album till date
Drake’s new album is already a major achievement for him. The 34-year-old rapper’s sixth full-length studio album, Certified Lover Boy, was released on Friday, more than a year after it was first announced. Only hours after its release, Certified Lover Boy became the most-streamed album on Spotify and Apple Music.
Becomes most streamed album ever
Certified Lover Boy, according to PEOPLE, became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day on Friday. Drake broke the previous global record, which was set in 2018 by Scorpion, Drake’s own 25-track album, which reached 132 million single-day streaming listens.
Meanwhile, the song is getting increasingly popular on Apple Music. Certified Lover Boy has smashed the record for most-streamed album in 2021, Apple Music revealed less than 12 hours after its release. As a result, in 2021, the Canadian singer will have the most streams in a single day.
The news comes only days after Kanye West’s Donda became Apple Music’s most-streamed album. Ye’s Donda received over 60 million streams in its first 24 hours on Apple Music.
Drake’s new album was initially scheduled to be released in January of this year, but it was postponed so he could work on new tracks. Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, and Lil Wayne are among the artists who have collaborated on the album.
Declaring his achievement
Meanwhile, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, and Young Thug make appearances on Certified Lover Boy, which features 21 tracks and 15 guest appearances. The “Champagne Poetry” singer celebrated his remarkable streaming milestone by posting an Instagram photo of a billboard declaring his achievement.
