Robert Pattinson Makes a Surprise Appearance Ahead of The Batman Trailer Debut
Robert Pattinson has officially left his beloved Twilight character as the trailer of The Batman released.
The highly anticipated trailer of The Batman was released on Saturday during the virtual event, DC FanDome. Robert made a surprise appearance at the beginning of the movie’s panel before the fans went wild over his new role.
The actor said that they were in the beginning stages of production when the novel coronavirus hit. He revealed he is really nervous to go back to work and continue to play the “beloved” character. “I’ve always been a massive fan,” the 34-year-old star said, which was captured and shared on YouTube by fans.
Robert said he is not really allowed to reveal much and he hands it over to Matt Reeves. He said Matt can determine what can and cannot be said. The actor continued, “But I do know that if you stick around to the end… there’s a cool surprise.”
After the trailer released, revealing that the movie will take place with the iconic superhero. However, Matt revealed that 25 percent of the filming is done. In the short clip, Robert wasn’t the only famous face on-screen. Zoë Kravitz was spotted in her Catwoman suit, while an unrecognizable Colin Farrell transformed into the Penguin.
It is still unclear when the movie will be released. However, the studio cleverly used question marks in a few places of the actual numbers. It is anticipated to be released by next year.
Last year in an interview, Robert opened about his shock of getting the part just like his fans. “It’s kind of insane,” he told Esquire U.K. in October 2019. “I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I literally do not understand how I’ve got it, at all.”
Obviously now we know why Robert was cast. Watch the trailer below.
Matt Revealed The Official Logo of The Batman
Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, revealed it’s first look at the logo on Thursday. The director took to Twitter to share the first look of the logo with fans and also revealed Robert Pattinson’s artwork. Matt had also teased more information on the movie at FanDome. The event is going to take place on Saturday.
Fans got a look at the character’s full costume as well. It was made by comic book artist Jim Lee who is also the Publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics. The director said he is very excited to share the very first look at The Batman logo. He added that he is sharing the DC FanDome artwork by Jim Lee as well.
The movie was seven weeks into its filming schedule when the production had to stop. There are approximately three months of material left to shoot with Robert Pattinson as the lead role. It was claimed that the film might be finished by the end of the year, but it is still unclear.
Variety also reported that the crew has been busy building new sets for the movie throughout August. The Batman would have released sooner but the anticipated release date is October 2021. Earlier in the year, Matt confirmed that the production had to be stopped because of the global pandemic.
Warner Bros. informed that the break will last for two weeks while Matt confirmed the halt in the production. ‘Yes, we have shut down till it is safe for us all to resume,’ he stated in a tweet.
A statement at the time read: ‘Warner Bros. Pictures feature production of ‘The Batman‘ will be on a two-week hiatus starting today. The studio will continue to monitor the situation closely.’ Zoe Kravitz will appear as Catwoman, while Andy Serkis will play Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth.
