Ellen DeGeneres Says She’ll Be ‘Talking’ to Fans Amid Workplace Allegations
Ellen DeGeneres has decided she wants to talk to her viewers addressing the recent workplace shakeup. The talk show host was caught by paparazzi on Saturday as she was grabbing lunch with a friend. She confirmed that she will be having conversations amid the allegations.
Ellen is heard saying she will be talking to fans in a new video obtained by Daily Mail. It is not clear how she will be addressing the issues of her talk show. However, it seems she might be addressing the allegations on her show.
The new season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show will premiere on September 14. Ellen’s comment comes after the new perks that were accommodated on the show. There were also changes made in the crew as three of the producers were let go and Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss was promoted as an executive producer.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show is going through changes to improve morale. According to ET, the talk show has implemented new perks for the staff as they return to production this week.
One of the many perks is increased paid time off and liberal medical leave policy. The staff will be receiving payment for five days off to use at their discretion, birthdays off. They will also be receiving paid off days for doctor appointments and family matters.
An insider has also revealed that morale has improved because of the new benefits, as Ellen addressed the staff recently. Along with this, Ellen’s primetime spin-off, Ellen’s Game of Games is in production. They are busy with rehearsals and are scheduled to shoot next week with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
Ellen Apologizes to 200 Employees Yet Again
According to ET, the show’s staff are working remotely at the time, while only some are required to be on the sets. More staff members will eventually be on set while keeping in mind the COVID safety protocols. The premiere nears and production will resume.
A spokesperson has confirmed that the former executive producers’ Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman have left the show. Longtime DJ, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss has been given a promotion of co-executive producer after six years on the show. The changes come soon after the allegations raised by current and former employees about the show.
Ellen apologized again as their show goes into production and she poured her heart out to the 200 employees in a video chat. A source reveals that the host got emotional taking a lot more accountability than she had in the past. She also noted that she “trusted the wrong people.”
Variety’s Matt Donelly also revealed that the talk show host seemed quite disturbed by accounts that you can’t look her in the eye. He said, “All this to say, the end of that section of her speech, she did say, please look at her. Please talk to her and engage.”
Along with the perks and the firing of three executive producers, there will be a human resources employee appointed where the staff can go and report their grievances.
Amid all the allegations about Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show and the host, many famous celebrities have come in support of Ellen. She issued an apology last week to her staff amid the claims of sexual misconduct behind the scenes. She acknowledged the claims against the show and herself.
Ellen’s Heartfelt Message
After allegations of sexual misconduct in the workplace, Ellen addressed the claims in a letter to her staff. Although, Ellen was not accused of the misconduct and an investigation was also launched.
Ellen wrote that on the first day of her show, she told everyone that the place will be of happiness and no one will ever raise their voice. She addressed the issue saying something changed and expressed her disappointment to learn that this was not happening. The talk show host goes on to apologize saying anyone who knows her knows it is not what she believes in.
Ellen added that she could not have the success without any of their contributions and that her name is on the show because of which she will take complete responsibility. She said, “Alongside Warner Bros., we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct the issues.”
The host continued, “As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything”. She said she relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
Her talk show is under investigation and they have found few gaps here and there which they regretted to inform. But, however, Ellen has gotten a ton of support from her friends on social media.
The support comes after the show faced a number of allegations against the workplace environment of The Ellen Show. Buzzfeed News published an article in July were former and current employees of Ellen spoke about the toxic workplace.

Ellen says that she understands people who are being looked differently because she has faced the same thing. She said, “As someone who was judged and nearly lost everything for just being who I am. I truly understand and have deep compassion for those being looked at differently, or treated unfairly, not equal, or— worse—disregarded.”
The host said she feels awful for anybody who ever felt that way. A statement from Warner Bros. states they have interviewed a dozen people including the current and former employees. The company published a statement which read, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show is, and has always strived to be, a place that brings positivity to the world.”
“And though not all of the allegations were corroborated, we are disappointed that the primary findings of the investigation. It indicated some deficiencies related to the show’s day-to-day management.
DeGeneres’ personal spokesperson confirmed that The Ellen DeGeneres Show is scheduled to return on September 9 after its summer hiatus.
