Amy & Penny Painting in a Photo with a Young Sheldon Star
Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage has tweeted a photo of himself posing with Amy and Penny’s famous painting from The Big Bang Theory. Young Sheldon, as a prequel spinoff of the original sitcom, regularly references The Big Bang Theory.
Actors from the original show, such as Kaley Cuoco and Mayim Bialik, have contributed voiced cameos in addition to presenting younger versions of many of the same characters. Young Sheldon has also hinted to events from The Big Bang Theory, such as Sheldon earning the Nobel Prize.
Amy And Penny’s Friendship
Of course, Young Sheldon hasn’t had time to catch up on everything that has happened over the time frame of The Big Bang Theory’s twelve seasons. The spinoff, for example, hasn’t referenced one of the original show’s most well-known gags: Amy and Penny’s painting.
Amy commissions the huge picture to honour her friendship with Penny in The Big Bang Theory episode “The Rothman Disintegration.” Penny, on the other hand, despises the painting, which Amy soon discovers. Penny ends up expressing their friendship in a location away from the audience to save their friendship. When Penny and Leonard move in together in a later episode, “The Property Division Collision,” the painting returns.
Armitage recently shared a photo of himself posing with Young Sheldon, presumably while working on the painting. With his character’s distinctive smooth hair and stylish clothes, he stands between Amy and Penny in the photo.

Armitage is currently filming the fifth season of Young Sheldon, which will release on October 7. CBS has also renewed the series for a second season, so there will be plenty of opportunities for more obvious comparisons to The Big Bang Theory. While the painting itself may not appear in the spinoff, Armitage clearly enjoyed seeing it in behind the scenes
