Famous Showtime Series ‘Penny Dreadful’ To Leave Netflix US In September 2021
One of Showtime’s best-performing series titled ‘Penny Dreadful’ will bid its goodbye and leave Netflix in the United States completely in September 2021.
The series was started back in 2014. Penny Dreadful is a series whose plot dates back to 1891 and recounts the ancient stories of Dracula, Frankenstein, and Dorian Gray to name a few on the streets of Victorian London.
3 Seasons, 27 Episodes
The show lasted three seasons and 27 episodes in all. Even though the creator of Penny Dreadful planned to end the show after 3 seasons, fans just weren’t ready! They asked Netflix to revive the show for another season.
Among the incredible cast members of Penny Dreadful are Reveve Carney, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani.
When Exactly Is Penny Dreadful Leaving Netflix?
The final season 3 of Penny Dreadful was released on Netflix on September 17, 2016. The season 3 release date acts as a natural countdown timer to when the show will bid its farewell from the platform.
In this case, the term seems to be 5 years. That means that Penny Dreadful’s 1-3 seasons are now set to leave Netflix in the United States on September 17, 2021.
The last date for viewing Penny Dreadful is 16 September.
Where To Watch It?
You will probably be able to continue watching the show Penny Dreadful on Showtime.
However, there is no certainty that the show will come back on Netflix.
Nothing really changes with the streaming of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
Prime Video Gets US Rights
Netflix was not able to acquire the broadcasting rights to the show via Showtime and surprisingly, Prime Video acquired US rights to the show.
In the United Kingdom, the new spin-off series and the original series are only available via Sky and NowTV.
September is going to be a big month for removals by the looks of it. A big selection of movies as well as series such as Harlan Coben’s The Five and the BBC’s Ripper Streetare also set to leave.
