Renewal of Manifest Season 4 on Netflix is on the verge of happening
Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, and Matt Long feature in the supernatural drama Manifest. It follows the passengers and crew of Montego Air Voyage 828 as they return from what appears to be a routine flight from Jamaica to New York, only to learn that five years have passed and everyone on board has been presumed dead.
Manifest is allegedly on the verge of being renewed for a fourth season by Warner Bros TV. After a major drop in ratings in season three, the mystery-drama series was cancelled by its original home network, NBC. Earlier this year, Netflix turned down the chance to resurrect Manifest after talks with Warner Bros. failed to result in a deal.
A social media campaign popped up swiftly, and fans (including Stephen King, the legendary horror author) began tweeting with the hashtag #SaveManifest.
After failing to find a new home for the six-season show, creator Jeff Rake stated in July that he was considering filming a two-hour movie to appropriately wrap up Manifest. However, it appears that there is still hope for Season 4.
Negotiations with Netflix
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. TV is in the final stages of talks with Netflix about a fourth season of Manifest. Warner Bros. has reportedly approached the cast and writers about the possibility of a comeback.
While Rake had previously approached NBCUniversal about renewing Manifest on NBC or Peacock after the network suddenly changed its mind, it appears that Netflix will be the platform of choice for the show’s future.
While no official agreement has been reached, considering the show’s huge viewership during its first seasons on Netflix, it seems doubtful that Netflix will pass up another opportunity like Manifest.
The show has proven to be an example of how a dedicated fan base may occasionally be enough to sway a large broadcast network. Rake appears to be more than ready to leap into the upcoming season of the show, and there will be plenty of anxious viewers waiting for him to do so.
