Amber Heard Accused of Lying About Johnny Depp’s Alleged ‘Thanksgiving Attack’
Amber Heard was accused of lying as the lawyers said she was ‘making up’ claims about Johnny Depp being violent. Heard was shown a video of the couple partying happily with their friends including Marilyn Manson on the night. It was the same night Heard claimed Depp threw her across the room and ‘busted’ her lip.
Heard alleges that Mr Depp also threw a glass and a heavy glass decanter at her. She claimed he ripped her shirt and left her with a ‘lump’ on the back of her head on Thanksgiving in November 2015.
Two videos were played on court where people were heard laughing and talking excitedly from a holiday weekend. Eleanor Laws QC, Depp’s lawyer, asked Heard to talk about the footage. The actress said their fights never happened with family, it was always after everyone went to bed.
Laws alleged that Heard was lying about the entire incident and said: ‘You are making up this up as you go along’. Despite all faces not being visible in the footage, Heard can be seen picking up a drink. She revealed she could tell Marilyn Manson was present after recognising his fingernails. Heard also told the court that others present were her friend Rocky Pennington, Depp and his son Jack, her father David and Erin Boerum. The group also accompanied Heard’s nurse and friend.
Heard says Depp had an alter ego called the monster and that he would blame his alter ego when he used to be violent. In the film Depp was heard joking about a monster being in the room with Heard’s father. While Heard exclaims to a guest, ‘What are you doing? Get away get away’.
Image Shows Depp Having an Injury
Laws questions Heard about the Thanksgiving clip and says it was just a happy family event. She asks her there was no violence that day or anything, was there? Heard denies and says that the two are unrelated. Laws said that the video consists of a timestamp which says it was after midnight. But in Heard’s account, Depp had already been violent to her.
Heard replied: ‘Yes, we had an altercation on the top of the stairs.’ She was shown several photos and questioned about the incident. Heard was asked if her nurse and friend Erin Boerum was present for any of the alleged violence. She denied and said she was not a part of it.
Laws had discussed about a train incident when Depp was allegedly violent with Heard. They were on the Eastern and Oriental Express in South-east Asia in August 2015 on their honeymoon. Heard had stated that Depphit her and pushed her against a wall by the throat, causing her to fear for her life. Depp denied these allegations.
Laws suggested it was Heard who lost her temper which she denied. However, Laws showed her a picture taken on the Express which showed an injury on Depp’s face. Heard said she could not see any injury on his face and said she has tons of pictures from that vacation and he is uninjured.
Heard denied severing Depp’s finger and claimed he threw 30 bottles at her like grenades. She claimed previously that Depp had held her hostage for three days in Australia. Depp claimed Heard had threw a vodka bottle on his hand which severed his finger. However, Heard said she only threw things at him when he was beating her up.
Heard Vs Depp
On asking if she stubbed a cigarette on his face, Heard said Depp himself did that. This came after Heard claimed that Depp and his lawyers had a four-year campaign to ‘harass’ and ‘abuse’ Amber Heard as well as wreck her career after they split up.
Heard published a new witness statement which said she was eager to proceed. She claims this had affected her professional life, personal life and her well-being.
The actress continues in the statement, ‘I have been subjected to a campaign of targeted online abuse on social media, as well as online petitions calling for me to be removed from any future sequel to Aquaman and from my association with L’Oreal’.
She further stated, ‘It has also been aimed at what is most important to me: my humanitarian work, including my partnerships with the United Nations (UN) and non-governmental organizations, like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and many others, and the important work that these organizations do’.
Heard is expected to give evidence for three days. Johnny Depp is suing The Sun’s publishers NGN for an article which claimed he was a ‘wife-beater’. Heard is facing questioning over 14 allegations of domestic violence that she made against Depp. However, all the allegations were denied by Depp during the first week of the libel claim.
Heard obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Depp in LA shortly after the couple split in 2016. She later donated her $7million US dollars (£5.5 million) divorce settlement to charity.
Depp is suing NGN and Dan Wootton over the publication of an article on April 27 2018 with the headline: ‘Gone Potty: How can JK Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife-beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?
