Red Velvet Breaks Multiple records with “QUEENDOM”
On the Hanteo Chart, Red Velvet’s latest album “QUEENDOM” has set a new record for first-day sales, making the girl group the fifth in the history to do so!
On August 16, Red Velvet released their sixth mini-album, “QUEENDOM,” which includes the title song of the same name.
The physical version of Red Velvet’s “QUEENDOM” was published on August 17, and the album has already broken the group’s first-day and first-week sales records on Hanteo.
“QUEENDOM” is Red Velvet’s first release as a group in over a year and a half, following the release of “The ReVe Festival: Finale,” their first Korean compilation album, in December 2019.
On August 17, at 5:20 p.m. KST, Red Velvet’s “QUEENDOM” had sold over 100,000 copies on the Hanteo Chart, a total of 126,553 copies.
“QUEENDOM” is the first album by the female group to sell more than 100,000 copies in a single day. This is not only the girls’ new first-day sales record, but also their new first-week sales record.
Furthermore, Red Velvet becomes the fifth K-pop girl group in history to sell over 100,000 copies on Hanteo on its first day.
IZ*ONE, BLACKPINK, TWICE, and MAMAMOO are the only other K-pop girl groups to sell over 100,000 copies on their first day of release.
“BLOOM*IZ” (183,975), “Oneiric Diary” (152,635), and “One-reeler/ Act IV” are the three albums by IZ*ONE that have sold over 100,000 copies in their first day on the Hanteo Chart (190,698).
TWICE has also achieved the accomplishment with three albums: “MORE & MORE” (274,472), “Eyes Wide Open” (107,345), and “Taste of Love” (107,345). (180,236).
BLACKPINK has two albums that have sold over 500,000 copies: “How You Like That” (155,844) and “THE ALBUM” (589,310), while MAMAMOO only has one, “TRAVEL” (101,376).
Furthermore, Red Velvet’s “QUEENDOM” currently has the second-highest first-day sales among 2021 girl group albums on the Hanteo Chart. It outsold (G)I-“I DLE’s Burn,” which sold only 75,510 copies.
“QUEENDOM” has sold 150,186 copies as of 8:20 p.m. KST on August 17th, and counting.
Congratulations to Red Velvet for setting a new Hanteo Chart record for first-day and first-week sales!
