Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi Share Their Stunning Wedding Photos
After the surprise announcement of their secret wedding ceremony, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have revealed the first images from their private wedding ceremony in Windsor Castle.
The couple, who became engaged in 2018, wed in a small, secret ceremony on Friday morning.
The Queen, Prince Philip, and Beatrice’s parents Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York were among those in attendance. Princess Eugenie, and husband, Jack Brooksbank were also a part of the wedding ceremony. Buckingham Palace announced in a statement. “The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government Guidelines.”
A message from the Royal Family’s Twitter Account read, “Congratulations to HRH Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi! #JustMarried #RoyalWedding. The couple were married in a small private ceremony.”
First Royal wedding behind closed doors since 235 years
The Princess’ wedding came as a pleasant surprise for royal watchers. Popular wedding photographer, Benjamin Wheeler, beautifully captured the bride and groom after their wedding ceremony, and posing with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
The Princess was walked down the aisle by her father, Prince Andrew. However, Photos of the prince were not included in the images made public. This comes after recent controversy surrounding the Prince, who became embroiled in a scandal over his late pedophile friend, disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein.
The princess really wanted her beloved grandparents to witness her exchange vows. So she chose the Chapel of All Saints on the Windsor estate, where the Queen often attends services. It is reportedly the first Royal wedding behind closed doors since 235 years. And is also believed to be the first family gathering that the Queen and Prince Philip have attended since lockdown.
“Something Old, Something Borrowed”
For the private ceremony, Beatrice wore a stunning vintage dress borrowed from her grandmother. The queen wore the gown to a glitzy film premiere of Lawrence of Arabia, almost 60 years ago.
The dress was designed by Norman Hartnell, and is made from Peau De Soie taffeta, with an ivory Duchess satin trim. It also features a checkered, geometric bodice, adorned with diamanté and puffy organza sleeves. The Queen’s favorite royal dressmaker, Angela Kelly and designer, Stewart Parvin, made a few tweaks to the garment to make it unique for Beatrice.
The Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara
Her Highness also lent Princess Beatrice her beautiful tiara that she wore at her own wedding. The Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara is a treasured heirloom, fashioned in 1919 from a necklace given to the current Queen’s grandmother by Queen Victoria. Before Beatrice, the tiara was also loaned to the Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne for her wedding to Mark Phillips in 1973. Ever since, the tiara has rarely been seen in public.
The queen’s precious gestures will surely remain memorable for the princess. The monarch made every effort to ensure that her granddaughter’s wedding was an occasion for the couple to remember. Especially since her dream of having a lavish royal wedding, at Buckingham Palace on May 29 were crushed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Best Man and Maid of Honor
The wedding bridged three Royal generations. Princess Beatrice became a stepmother to Edo’s son Wolfie, who acted as both best man and page boy alongside his two young cousins. Beatrice’s younger sister, Eugenie was maid of honor.
Celebrations: Tents,Glamping Pods…
A small party was held afterwards at Royal Lodge that is Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York’s, Windsor home. The party-loving Yorks ensured a high-spirited reception for the couple. Reportedly featuring speciality cocktails, bespoke catering, an exquisitely decorated Indian-style tent, a bouncy castle and glamping pods for overnight guests. Beatrice was said to be ‘thrilled and super-excited,” and even told a friend, It’s been such a whirlwind.’
“They are just delighted they could marry in front of their family and closest friends”
The Newlywed couple are supposedly not having any immediate honeymoon plans and hope to celebrate their wedding on a grander scale, with a ‘huge party’. A friend close to the couple revealed, “They are just delighted they could marry in front of their family and closest friends. It was particularly special that the Queen and Duke could come.”
The royal pair withheld from sharing photos on the day of their wedding, so as not to overshadow the investiture ceremony of Captain Tom Moore. The 100-year-old war veteran fund-raised millions of dollars for the National Health Service in the UK for coronavirus relief. The queen left the wedding ceremony early to bestow the knighthood at Windsor Castle.
