Jaden Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Call Out YouTube Star Shane Dawson

The YouTuber is under fire for sexualizing Willow Smith in one of his videos, that resurfaced.

Jada and Jaden Smith have spoken against Shane Dawson for the video that resurfaced. In the video, Shane was making sexual gestures to a picture of then 11-year-old, Willow Smith.

Jada Pinkett Smith took to Twitter to express her anger. She wrote that she is done with his excuses. Jaden Smith also expressed his rage by saying that he is disgusted with Shane. He further mentions Shane ‘sexualizing’ his sister who was just 11-years-old at the time.

Shane Dawson uploaded a video on Friday, titled ‘Taking Accountability’. It was a 20-minute long video where he apologizes for the mistakes and choices he made in his previous videos.

Shane apologizes for wearing blackface, saying the N-word, and joking about pedophilia in his previous videos.

After the video resurfaced, Jada wrote, “To Shane Dawson…I’m done with your excuses”. Her son, Jaden also took to Twitter. He started by writing that he is screaming and continues, ‘SHANE DAWSON I AM DISGUSTED BY YOU.’

Jaden called Shane out for sexualizing an 11-year-old who is his sister. He went on to write that it is not funny and not okay in the slightest bit.

In another tweet, Jaden wrote that ‘This Man Was Also Doing Black Face On The Regular. As The Youth, We Need To Support Creators Who Support Us And Our Morals. This Is Not Okay.’

In the apology video that Shane posted, he said that he used blackface a lot in his videos previously. He continued saying it is not okay and there are no excuses. Shane said that six years ago, he had addressed the issue and he made excuses in them, which was wrong.

The YouTuber continued saying he did not look into the history at that time because of which people were upset. He apologized for making those videos and assured that he knows about the history now.

Shane apologized to the people who saw that. Shane also apologized to the people who saw other people uplifting him saying ‘Shane you are so funny’.

He said he cannot imagine being black and see a white guy doing the blackface and everybody on the internet saying, ‘LOL’. Shane apologized for normalizing blackface and normalizing the N-word. He continued saying it is not a funny word especially for a white man to say.

The YouTuber has 22 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Shane also went on to apologize for joking about pedophilia. He said he would never talk about a child in an inappropriate way ever.

In the video, Shane addressed being defensive whenever he was accused of being a racist. He apologized to a YouTuber who had called him out back at the time and he admitted to being defensive. Shane mentions his followers lashed out on her with very toxic comments.

He also addresses his podcast calling it, ‘stupid, gross, and awful’. Shane says that podcast was a source of so many awful things and regrets for him. He admits to wanting to make things crazier when people called him out.

The internet personality talked about his childhood and how he was in a lot of pain. He admits to taking that pain and turning it into jokes but instead he should have gone to therapy.

Shane says that he was thoughtless of things that he was posting for so many years. He says he is not that person and admits to taking jokes too far.

Towards the end of the apology video, Shane says he is willing to lose everything in the process. He thanks some of the people who will accept his apology but those who would not, he admits to understanding that because there were a lot of jokes.

Shane said, “I’m willing to lose everything. At this point, realizing how many people I’ve hurt or how many people I’ve inspired to say awful things or do anything awful, to finally just own up to all of this and be accountable is worth losing everything to me.”
