Selena Gomez Reacts To A Joke About Her Kidney Transplant In TV Show ‘The Good Fight’

Selena Gomez has hit back on the makers of The Good Fight for making fun of the singer’s health.

Selena had opened up about her Kidney transplant in 2017 and since then, the actress-cum-singer has faced many ‘tasteless’ jokes about her surgery.

The latest addition to the list TV show ‘The Good Fight’. Selena Gomez tweeted her reaction saying “”I am not sure how writing jokes about organ transplants for television shows has become a thing but sadly it has apparently.”

In the tweet that she sent out, she also said “”I hope in the next writer’s room when one of these tasteless jokes are presented it’s called out immediately and doesn’t make it on air.”

Similar Incidents In The Past

In 2020, Saved By The Bell show also joked about her transplant in at least two scenes. The show makers later apologized to Selena.

Another such incident was when a Chinese variety show photoshopped an after-surgery picture of Selena Gomez and later apologized for their actions.

The recent episode of Paramount+ legal drama enraged the fans of Selena Gomez as the characters of the show joked about sensitive topics like necrophilia, autism and “Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant”.

Selena’s fan army took to twitter in her defense and also started a #RespectSelenaGomez trend. Selena said ‘my fans always have my back. Love You’ in a separate tweet addressed to her supporters.

Will ‘The Good Fight’ Makers Apologize?

According to entertainment tabloid Hollywood Reporter, a source from the team of The Good Fight has explained:

“If you watch the episode in full, the reference to Gomez is part of a discussion the characters are having about topics that are not OK to make fun of and the idea of cancel culture and being cancelled for telling a bad joke.
“The reference is that her transplant is not something you can joke about.”
