After a COVID-related delay, Bridgerton season 2 continues production . Bridgerton, the first Netflix series to come out of Shonda Rhimes’ partnership with the streaming service, was an instant hit when it launched at the end of 2020.

The drama is based on Julia Quinn’s romance series, and it follows the Bridgerton siblings as they search for love in Regency England. Season 2 was ordered in January of this year, but Netflix renewed Bridgerton for seasons 3 and 4 in April without waiting for it to arrive.

Bridgerton’s sophomore season began filming in early spring. After focusing on Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon, Duke of Hastings’ (Regé-Jean Page) affair in season one, Bridgerton will now focus on Daphne’s younger brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his own relationship with newcomer Kate Sharma in season two (Simone Ashley).

Despite the high level of excitement for Bridgerton season 2, the set has been troubled by numerous shutdowns due to positive COVID cases. It was paused for a day in July, then resumed shortly after, only to be put on hold indefinitely the next day.

Production Resumed

The Bridgerton set is finally up and running again. Showrunner Chris Van Dusen said the Netflix series is restarting production, according to Variety. “We’ve resumed our journey.

We had to postpone due to COVID, but we’re back on track again “he stated “Right now, I’m in post-production, editing our first two episodes, which are looking fantastic.” It’s unclear whether the positive cases that prompted the latest shutdown occurred among the actors or crew, but whoever it was was placed in isolation almost away.

Bridgerton is now free to resume work after two weeks have passed.

Bridgerton’s second season was already dealing with a major setback when Page, the show’s breakout actor, said he would not be returning. With the spotlight shifting to Anthony and Kate, Bridgerton will have plenty of new material to keep writing torrid romances.

In fact, the epidemic may make those raunchy moments even more difficult for the series. For the time being, filming is back on track, so there’s reason to cheer.
