YouTuber Logan Paul To Fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. In Showtime PPV Exhibition

Youtuber Logan Paul and five-time boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr. confirmed today that they will be facing each other in an exhibition bout on Showtime pay-per-view. The boxing battle is set for June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Mayweather Promotions, Fanmio, and Showtime are behind the execution of the event. It was originally planned to be held on February 20. However, there were no details revealed about rules, rounds, or anything else. The tickets for the event will be available on sale next week.

Floyd has not fought since the 2018 exhibition against a Japanese kickboxer. His last pro bout was against UFC Legend Conor McGregor. The event was the most viewed PPV event in history. This was another feather on his hat after Floyd’s 2015 KO unanimous decision over ex-champ Manny Pacquiao for his 50th career pro victory.

He has held title belts in five divisions: junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, and junior middleweight. Floyd’s return to the ring is unconventional, however, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said that he views it as an opportunity to grow the sport of boxing. “If it brings more eyeballs to the sport, I’m all for it,” he said. “At the end of the day, it’s all about entertainment. This is why I can never be mad at anyone who thinks outside the box. Once you start living in that bubble and only do things inside that bubble, you don’t ever have a chance to separate yourself.”

Meanwhile, Logan has only fought once unlike his brother, Jake Paul. He lost at the 2019 exhibition to British Youtuber KSI at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Jake has also taken to the ring after his very controversial YouTube career. He is 3-0 in the ring and is ready to battle an MMA fighter. Jake challenged Kamaru Usman via Twitter on Tuesday.

Seems like June will be the month where we will get to see a lot of this sport. Even YouTuber Austin McBroom has hosted a boxing event with several other TikTok influencers. So naturally the theme is YouTuber vs TikTokers.
