Yasir Hussain’s Javed Iqbal Wins Two Awards At UK Asian Film Festival

Lollywood talented actor and director, Yasir Hussain along with Abu Aleeha have grabbed awards for the film, Javed Iqbal. Indeed, this featured film got banned in Pakistan before its release in March. However, succeeded in achieving international success at the British Asian Film Festival held on May 15.

Sadly, the film got banned in its own country due to the subject. The film traces the story of the man who sexually abused and killed more than 100 children in Lahore. The story is set in Pakistan between 1998 and 1999. Later, he confessed to killing over 100 young boys. He was later on caught and was sentenced to death but he committed suicide before receiving the sentence.

Ayesha Omar played the role of a police officer in the movie. An intrepid and determined police officer running the investigation on the serial killer and tracking down his accomplices. ‘The Untold Story: Javed Iqbal’ was written and directed by Abu Aleeha. Likewise, it is produced under the banner of KKFilms by Javed Ahmed. The role of Javed will be played by multi-talented actor Yasir Hussain.

The film later got screened in the UK at the British Asian Film Festival where it received the best actor and director awards. The main leads of the film were present there, except Ayesha Omar. Also, the film got appreciation from the audiences as well.

The film was solely based on Pakistan’s most popular serial killer, Javed Iqbal. Initially, when the posters of the film ‘The Untold Story: Javed Iqbal’ were released, many people opposed it. Earlier, actor and producer Shamoon Abbasi, also announced that he will be making a web series on the same criminal. Though we have no confirmation if it is still in the works or has been shelved.
