WWE showed a graphic paying tribute to Scott Hall before we got to Owens coming out to start the show. He started by saying “Hey, yo,” as an homage to The Bad Guy before he talked about Austin coming on his talk show at WrestleMania. Just minutes after the start of Raw, Waltman confirmed the sad news on Twitter.
Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest
Two weeks after Finn Balor defeated Damian Priest for the United States Championship, the two met for a rematch. What nobody expected was for Austin Theory to make his way down to the commentary table. Damian Priest defeated Finn Balor via pinfall with Reckoning. Austin Theory was on commentary for the match, ultimately drawing enough of Balor’s attention to allow Priest to score the win. After the match, Theory hit Balor with an ATL.
Omos vs. Commander Azeez
After they had a brief confrontation last week, WWE immediately booked Omos to take on Commander Azeez. Omos was first to take control, but Azeez didn’t go down without a fight. He grabbed Crews and chokeslammed him for good measure once the match was over. Omos defeated Commander Azeez via pinfall with a chokebomb. Omos then pulled Apollo Crews into the ring and hit him with a chokeslam after the match had concluded.
Liv Morgan vs. Queen Zelina
Liv Morgan and Carmella defeated Queen Zelina and Carmella last week to earn a spot in the women’s tag title match at WrestleMania, so Zelina was out for revenge when she took on Morgan in a singles bout this week. Liv Morgan defeated Queen Zelina via pinfall after hitting Oblivion. Carmella was distracted by Corey Graves at ringside, causing her to fail to aid her tag partner in getting the win.
Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. Hurt Business
Next up was a tag team match between The Hurt Business and the father-son team of Rey and Dominik Mysterio. These two teams squared off two weeks ago, with Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin scoring the victory. The Mysterios defeated Hurt Business via pinfall when Dominik Mysterio hit Cedric Alexander with a frog splash. Logan Paul and The Miz were on commentary for the match and tried to attack the Mysterios after their win but were easily run off.
Edge’s Promo and Doudrop vs. Bianca Belair
Edge cut a promo on WrestleMania opponent AJ Styles. Edge said that he is currently sitting on “the mountain of omnipotence” and vowed that Styles would be “judged” should Styles make it to Mania for their match.
Bianca Belair defeated Doudrop via pinfall after hitting a K.O.D. After the match, Becky Lynch attacked Belair, pulling her from the ring and throwing her into the ring steps and announce table before putting Belair’s head in a steel chair and ramming it into the ring post.
Montez Ford vs. Riddle
Randy Orton took it upon himself to throw a party to celebrate. The Street Profits challenged them to a title shot, but Orton did not want to accept the challenge. He got angry and threatened to make them leave before Riddle got between them. The Bro said the Profits beat them recently, and they need a Mania match, so this makes sense. This led to Riddle taking on Montez Ford in one on one competition. Riddle vs. Montez Ford ended in a no contest after interference from Alpha Academy.
Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins
Rollins suggested he hosts a talk show segment with Austin at WrestleMania. Owens told him he couldn’t double book Austin, so Rollins suggested they have a match to see who gets to host their show at the PPV. Sonya Deville came out on the stage and made it official for the main event. Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins via pinfall after hitting a stunner. The Visionary almost won several times before KO put him away with a Stunner to keep his spot at WrestleMania. This was definitely the Match of the Night.
