Wiz Khalifa Says Hip Hop’s ‘In A Box’ Because Of Generational Divide

Hip Hop is “in a box,” in Wiz Khalifa’s opinion, due of the generational gap that exists today.

The Taylor Gang leader, who recently released his latest funk-infused album Multiverse, spoke about the sumptuous live instrumentals he used as the project’s background.

Wiz claimed he decided to do this because he wanted to expose the younger generation to a “musical experience” that was different from what they were used to.

“It just reminds people of different musical experiences,” he stated. “Right now, we’re kind of in a box just because the younger generation, they haven’t really experienced the things that we went through, you know what I mean? So, it’s like, to give them that option so they can feel it and know what it feels like.”

What Else Did Wiz Say?

He added: “That’s not to say that anything is right or wrong or better or worse, but it’s just to give you that experience and involve you into it, and to give you a chance to get that on a heightened level.”

Multiverse, which will be released on Friday (July 29), has two cameos by the Californian R&B duo THEY and production from Girl Talk, Hitmaka, and Bankroll Got It.

The marijuana-friendly rapper has already given listeners a sizable amount of music in 2022 prior to the release of the new album. This features the collaborations Stoner’s Night with Juicy J and Full Court Press with Girl Talk, Smoke DZA, and Big K.R.I.T.

After the mixtape’s 10th anniversary on March 13, Wiz additionally re-released Taylor Allderdice to digital download stores on April 20.

The co-headlining Vinyl Verse Summer Tour that Wiz is now on with Logic began on July 27 in Irvine, California. Both rappers will visit 27 locations during their North American tour before coming to an end on September 2 at the Hollywood Casio Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri.
