Why did Bombay Humans take down their post on actress Sanjana Sanghi?

Over the last two years, the photoblog platform Humans Of Bombay (HOB) has gotten a lot of attention. This Instagram account is recognised for providing motivational stories from Mumbai residents.

A photo of Bollywood actress Sanjana Sanghi with her domestic helpers received a lot of criticism on social media recently. Sanghi wrote a blog article for Humans of Bombay about how she and her caretakers assisted each other throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.

What was the topic of Sanjana’s HOB post?

Sanghi wrote in the concerned post about how the caretakers attended to her every want. Sanghi, in turn, notified them about the coronavirus vaccine and scheduled their appointments. She later had them vaccinated as well. However, it appears that this post was a paid partnership with a beer company.

Negative Reaction to Sanjana’s post?

Diet Sabya (an anonymous Instagram account dedicated to exposing blatant fashion copycat) called out the post hours after it went popular. Sanjana has utilised three domestic staff as props to better and work on her personal image, according to Diet Sabya, the post showcasing her gestures.

Meanwhile, Diet Sabya wrote to the actor, explaining that they (caretakers) are conducting charity or pro-bono labour as a sign of goodwill. They are entitled to all of the same benefits as any other employee.

After a few minutes, a large number of Instagram users protested and asked that Humans of Bombay remove the image.

What did the Humans of Bombay do in the aftermath of the backlash?

Humans of Bombay took down the post showcasing Sanghi and her domestic employees as the backlash mounted. The actor has yet to make an official statement or response.

Sanjana will be seen in filmmaker Kapil Verma’s Om: The Battle Within in the near future. Aditya Roy Kapur plays the lead role in the film. She was last seen in Mukesh Chhabra’s film Dil Bechara, which was released in 2020 and starred the late Sushant Singh Rajput.
