With 142 Million Hours Seen, The Witcher Season 2 Is Netflix’s Most Popular Series
Season 2 of The Witcher has surpassed 142 million hours of viewing on Netflix.
The Witcher is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novel series, which has since been translated into a series of popular RPG video games and, most recently, a Netflix series.
The Witcher follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill, a monster hunter who comes up against a variety of human and inhuman foes.
Season 2 finds Geralt protecting Ciri (Freya Allan) at his childhood home of Kaer Morhen, while also anticipating the looming threats beyond the walls.
The Witcher season 2 is directed by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and stars Anya Chalotra, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Anna Schaffer, Eamon Farren, Royce Pierreson, and Mimi Ndiwen, in addition to Cavill and Allan.
The show has already been renewed for a third season, with Cavill previously stating that he plans to play the character till the finish.
In addition to the main series, The Witcher includes an animated spinoff series called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf that launched earlier this summer and tells the origin tale of Geralt’s tutor and fellow witcher, Vesemir.
