Although the sixth and final season of This Is Us is coming to a close, the Pearson family may not be forgotten; as the stars reportedly expressed interest in returning for a movie.
Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz; and Justin Hartley appear as the Pearson family; which the audience sees in their past, present and future on the popular and critically acclaimed NBC drama.
This Is Us created by Dan Fogelman, has been on the air for five seasons, and with the sixth and final season on the way; fans will have to say goodbye to Jack, Rebecca, Randall, Kate and Kevin Pearson, as well as the show’s Tuesday night 9 p.m. time slot.
This Is Us developed a reputation for tugging at viewers’ emotions. The series has health with the protagonists’ personal misfortunes as well as societal issues such as the Coronavirus and last year’s Black Lives Matter riots. However, things seemed bleak for the present-day Pearsons when the previous season concluded; and the season 6 trailer depicts the Pearsons in much greater difficulty. But in typical This Is Us tradition, the broadcast promised a brighter future for the Big Three in the not-too-distant future.
The cast, however, stated in a recent interview with ET Canada that they would be open to a This Is Us film. Although Ventimiglia thinks that his character, Jack, would appear; he believes that Kevin, Kate, and Randall’s stories will find their way to the big screen. “I don’t know if Jack storylines will hold or carry through,” Ventimiglia said before adding; “You can absolutely tell a Kevin-Randall-Kate story. You can absolutely tell present-day stuff.”
He wasn’t the only one who thought a movie would be a good idea. Mandy Moore, who plays Rebecca Pearson, has this to say about the concept: “We were laughing the other day with some of the cast, like, all these shows that are getting rebooted; didn’t they just end five, six, seven years ago? Are we going to be doing ‘This Is Us’ the reboot in six years? I would be game to do anything that would reunite me with everybody here.”
