She tweeted, ” About a year & half ago I wrote a song about the story of a girl who always lived on the outside, looking in. Figuratively & literally. The juxtaposition of her loneliness & independence. Her curiosity & fear are all tangled up. Her persisting gentleness & the world’s betrayal of it. “
Taylor also revealed about how she became a part of the “Where The Crawdads Sing” film. She wrote that she was absolutely lost in the book when she read it a few years back and when she heard about the opportunity that there is a film adaptation of the book being made.
She wanted to contribute from the musical side. She also revealed that Aaron Dessner is the producer of the song. Taylor wanted the song to be “haunting” & “ethereal” to match the story of Crawdads film.
She posted a little part of the song to announce that the song is out, the song lyrics go like this, ” And there are places I will never, ever go. And things that only Carolina will ever know.”
