Today marks 28 years of Sushmita Sen’s historic win of the Miss Universe title
On this day, the diva became the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title competing against contestants from 77 countries all across the world
In 1994, Sushmita Sen was crowned as the 43rd Miss Universe at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay, Philippines
Interestingly, in the same year actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also won the Miss World title
On Saturday, Sushmita celebrated the special occasion by sharing a throwback picture of herself on Twitter.
She captioned the photo, “Beautiful is a feeling. Happy 28 years of India winning Miss Universe for the very first time!! Time flies…Beauty remains!!”
